For heading just like for shooting I understand you need to time pressing the shoot button + direction. It has to be a the right time, no more arcadey FIFA press whenever you feel to win.

The fact that people are trying to put the input delay as a feature is quite funny.

Its like saying you are playing the game with two eyes wow what a casual.

Will keep this installed hoping for a patch that will at least fix the control issues.

Well I for one haven't hinted in the slighted that input delay is a feature Wink I guess others here have done it, though I must have missed their posts.

I'm certainly not perceiving any input delays (and I've noticed I'm not the only one without that issue) but i understand others do, and I hope an update fixes it for them. I've just been learning the right time for shooting heading, passing etc. Like I said, no more randomly pressing button to win.

That's my guess as well. But is it then that if you press at the wrong time, the player won't even try to challenge for the ball? It seems only one can make the jump and the other just stands around looking pretty. At the very least I was hoping my player would go for it and try and at the very least sometimes could put the other guy off so his header isn't inch perfect. Or I'm doing somethin very wrong, which is quite possible cause I'm completely lost on these controls...still can't make the player run at normal speed either. Crawl or sprint it is for me. Embarassed

Yeah, you have to time it well for the player going for the ball, and that still doesn't guarantee he will connect a successful header, volley, etc. That is gonna depend a lot as well on the quality of the cross from your team mate. I realized this witl a lot of practice Razz

About the player pace with the ball that's one of the things I admit it still seems odd to me. Maybe there's something missing that I haven't learned yet, but it might as well be broken Wink

Don't have any input delay problems here, only a few times my player didn't shoot when I wanted to, for some reason. No problems with passing etc.

PES is once more worse than FIFA. FIFA sucks ass. There you have it.
You seem to focus on the "what we saw" part of my post. Well, in the earlier gameplay videos I saw nice looking animation, realism, waaay better looking graphics (not that it matters, its just annoying to see such a difference), etc.
What I played was a couple of hours of tragicomic situations, bugs, players not being able to get out of the goal, after they score and go in with the ball, goalkeepers doing stupid shit, referee making the dumbest decisions and always in favor of the CPU, funny acrobatic impossibilities, demonstrating the new engine and many many more.

In regards to the controls I think it is way easier to be able to take the ball by just holding one button long enough, than to have to position the player and pick your moment. and of course that FIFA's controls are easier - they always were.
We are talking about functionality.

I'm liking the game a lot, sure it can be wonky at times, but playing offline has never been this fun and rewarding.

The animations and overall presentation still aren't as polished as Fifa's, but the AI is immensely better. PES for the offline and FIFA for the online sounds like a good compromise for me this year. Razz

Yeah, the graphics are quite inconsistent, the game alternates adequate lighting effects + proper shadowing to stadiums where the result is just "wrong", like in this case. The final effect is always kinda plastic, Doom 3-like Razz..but I can live with that. The bad LOD annoys me more than that to be honest. Damn puny consoles Laughing

Anyone know how to make use of controlled shot? I used to be able to curl some awesome shots outside the box previously. Now my controlled shots are more like low lobs with bare minimum power behind it. Confused

EDIT: I just learned that the spanish release in Argentina (and neighbour countries I guess) will feature those who are probably the best narrator/commentators in the whole south american continent (Mariano Closs, Fernando Niembro) So Much Win

I guess that's the response of Konami to EA's move of last year hiring the spanish narrators from ESPN (also among the best).

Now on to wait for someone to post those language packs when available Sad

Anyone knows what online modes are in PES 2014? Still only 1on1 or is there 5vs5 like in fifa too? Any other new mode? Because i like how fifa has more modes like 5on5 etc....

Yes, that's true. Brazilian and Argentinian commentaries are pretty good though and ofc the japanese one.
Patch toned down the efficiency of the lobbed through ball.That's good. New patch comes in 2 weeks time.
Jenkey's working to bring as soon as possible the new kitserver. With LOD mixer the result will be jaw-dropping.

Yes, if you check my post I edited it a few minutes ago to update about the argentinian commentaries, which should be more than decent. They're still gonna be scripted and never the same as in real life, but that's good enough for a video game for now Very Happy

well i have to say after playing 5 hours in game pes2014 is a big piece of shit, even most of the fans boys are saying that this year they are going to see fifa 2014 and maybe buying fifa, well nothing new to me, since 2010 fifa is the king of football games.
well ill wait to see fifa 2014, but it couldnt be worst that this piece of crap.
