I think the chances of prey coming out in Oct = 0%. Considering the game has always been advertised as coming out next year or was that just me who thought that??? Where exactly did you see Prey dated for an October release???

The demo was not optimized at all, it WILL run on your card, if not on release then after the first patch. You will need some serious cpu power dough.

Civ IV is on my to buy list... this is the only game in many years that I'm going to buy "blindly", meaning that this is the only game I would buy even without having tried the full version first...

Serious Sam is defently also on the to-get list, and if the game turns out to at least as fun as the first two games I'll probably end up buying that game too Smile

same here..currently in the process of shaking out the furniture to see if i can afford the coll ed...civ just is one of those few games with seeminly 'infinite' replay value....and with the extra moddability with xml the devs talk about...and the new rar mod...and 3d goodness...and everything else...goodbye life...

The modding is much more than that... one of the developers said the modding possibilities was that advanced that you could in theori make a shooter game out of it Very Happy

A large part of the game is written in python and is avaliable for the more advanced players to change... a few months after the release Firaxis will also release something that makes it possible to change the AI Cool

If just 10% of what they say is true, then this game offers some wild modding possibilities

modding modding I begin to wonder what use it have nowadays... you could make a RTS out of source engine and doom engine too and they have better tools and support that you could have from any other games with mod support, but the problem is that nobody take the time to do it. If you really want to create something I guess the best bet is to do like me and create your own directx engine in C++ that way you won't be limited to the engine you mod on.

Modding can be used to make the game like you want it to be. I know that a lot of SMAC fans have started talking about how they're going to change Civ IV into SMAC II... that's much easier to do by modding Civ IV instead of creating a new engine Smile

Creating an engine from scratch is a very hard work Dunge. It's not like the average Joe, with some knowledge in programming can sit and do it. I have been programming for over 7 years, and I never came close to finishing a fully operational 3D engine, capable of doing stuff that professional engines do it. Your prolly really good if you pulled it off, not everybody can do it.

if you dont think anyone takes the time to do it, you should download the rise & rule mod for civ 3. i was pretty dissapointed in civ 3 when it first came out, but when i was playing around with the mod, it opened my eyes to a whole new game. not only did it expand the technology tree with 3 or 4 TIMES the # of techs, it added more ages, hundreds of units, whole new trading game mechanics, more strategies with units, and so much more. it was like 10 times the original content of the game. And that was with a game not even designed to be modded! so yes, i am drooling over the possiblities with part 4.

Hmm it might be the ram then, I also have a p4@3ghz 800fsb... but 1gig ddr pc3100.

My Gf6800GE ran it nicely in 1600x1200(btw I had like 1 or 2 fps drop from 1024x768 to 1600x1200), but like others, laggede for a sek or so on location change.

I doubt they will release it un-optimized, still 512 more ram is almost a MUST.
