From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur ("Parks and Recreation"), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") and Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age," "Homicide: Life on the Street"), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective gets a new captain with a lot to prove.

Video wont work here, seen the trailer before it seems alright. I like both leads a lot but its rare that network TV is ever funny Smile

Watched this last night, thought it was pretty weak for now, had a few small lulz here and there.... but I usually don't judge a show right from the pilot. Will give it a few more and see how it goes. I think it has some big potential....

Watched it yesterday. The trailer was funnier than the pilot. Its main problem is that it doesn't know what it wants to be a whacky, absurd comedy about police precinct or a more down to earth sitcom. It has a bunch of characters that are over the top but they are contrasted by characters that are too real. It never goes over the border with jokes and the ones it tries to make just turns out flat.

I smell quick cancel.

it's not THAT bad. i thought i'd hate it... but it has moments of genuine comedy. but it also has moments of real bad snl comedy. aubrey plaza character is nice. but it's not aubrey plaza. Laughing Sad

if they keep it genuine then yay, if they keep adding some of the stupid snl shit samberg does... then i guess i'll have to put up with it.

i don't see it going pass 2 seasons though. it's not a fox show. should've been on nbc.

Genuine? Laughing

I thought it was pretty funny overall. It's always going to be limited. A funny cop show. Good luck cracking jokes when they try to catch that pedophile who raped a little girl.

Watched the second episode. Don't recall if I laughed on that one, maybe smiled. Anyway it took the biggest hit from last week with 30% less viewers watching it but still it was 4 mil.

I tried an episode, didnt find it funny. Did more eyerolling than even smiling at it.

Most the humor was forced feeling, or shoehorned into it, and even then it was corny or that SNL 'this skit wont make it 2 weeks' type humor.
Its like its humor is in some awkward phase of trying to be edgy, while still appealing to cornball light hearted style.

Almost like the went "How can we make a show thats edgy enough to draw the 18-35 crowd, but cheeky enough to draw the 35-50 crowd" and missed both marks.
Its like they tried to remake Barney Miller, for teenagers.

Exactly.

It doesn't know what it wants to be.
It's not a comedy about incompetent policemen because they are competent and effective.
It isn't shot in a pseudo documentary style of "Office".
And it isn't absurd like "Police Squad!" because the jokes are more awkward than absurd and silly.

Same here! After Parks and rec getting somewhat stale this is filling the comedy itch quite well

Love the captain and sergeant xD
