So I'm in the process of getting a new job. Did all the paper work last week and they mentioned that all that's left is medical stuff witch I'll have to do this week. We'll they called this week and told me that I've got an appointment on 18 sept at 9 AM for medical checkups and tests.
All fine and good, though I hate blood tests because of the no eating/drinking until after they get a sample, but fine I'll get it done and be over with it. So I stopped eating/drink yesterday at about 9 PM -- no eating is fine but no drinking and smoking is a problem as do like to have a smoke now and then, and I drink a lot of coffee and water to stay hydrated.
So I wake up, this morning and I can't drink or smoke hence I feel like crap. I get to the clinic, and there are a lot of people so I wait. And wait. Aaaand waaaait some more! After ~2 fucking hrs they call me in to take the tests, at witch point I'm like "fucking finally, just get the blood you need so I can go grab a damn coffee and a smoke!!" Nope! They send me in for more bullshit medical paper work, and psych tests. I finish those, then step outside to wait some more.
~1hr later they call me in, in the doctors office this time, for tests. I'm like "ohh man, finally this is it, they'll send to the labs for the blood tests!" Nope! It's a physical examination.
After a few mins, I'm close to loosing my shit, but they say another checkups and they'll give me a note and send me on my way to the labs for the other tests. Woo-hoo! \o/
So I keep my cool and cooperate, even though the doctor told me to take my pants off and turn around.
So I finally get the note, I go to the other clinic where the labs are, and at that point I'm willing to stab my arm and give all the blood they want just so I can be over with this.
So I hand the doctors note to the nurse and ask her how long is this going to take because I really want to get the hell out of there to have a coffee and a smoke (and at that point, grab something to eat because I'm starving), at witch point she's all like "^_^ oh, no. it says here we only need a poop sample from you. tee-hee!".

Stop being so dependable on nicotine and caffeine. You sound like a junkie, and rather than address the true problem you whine on other stuff xD This should be an eye opener xD

Check your requisition before you go. If it is testing cholesterol (lipid profile) then you need to fast 10 hrs. Fasting sugar is 8. I seriously doubt you have any of the other fasting tests, they are a little more specific..
You can drink water. Smoking doesn't really make that much of a difference. I never ask if someone has stopped smoking for any of the tests althou it is recommended you don't for a few of them.
What was the poop sample for? Culture? Para? Occult blood probably.
So I keep my cool and cooperate, even though the doctor told me to take my pants off and turn around.

Yup pretty much what I was reminded of when I heard that line.
Nothing special, just a job in retail. I haven't finished my studies (made some stupid choices a few years ago regarding Uni) and the openings in my field are rare, especially without a degree. I'm planing to get it done this/next year and be done with it.

I know, damn you. It's the only joy I have, don't make me give that up too.
Thing is I never really liked blood tests even before I became a smoker/coffee drinker on account of those restrictions.
It's the restrictions that bother me more than anything. But hopefully I'll reach a point when I'll quit as well, and when that day comes, I'll be sure to post about in the "Bitching" section.

Yeah, the blame goes both ways. I should have asked about the medical tests, and they should have assumed I'm too stupid to think about asking, and told me about it.
The last time I had blood tests I also donated some blood, so I was told not to eat/drink anything in the morning, or even the night before. But like I said, I also donated blood that day so I guess it's understandable because I'm no doctor.
And the last time I had just blood tests, over 6 years ago, they said no drinking/eating. But the medical system was more backwards back then so it might not be as restrictive now.
As for the sample tests, I have no clue. Probably standard for that company.

The thought crossed my mind as well. The last job was an office type one and there was no medical test or anything like that. Just some paperwork and bringing in the necessary documents. And you were done.
Now that I think about I did get into an "argument" with one of the medical personal there for being an arrogant prick, so it might be a classic case of medical employee getting his revenge.
I say "argument" because I didn't see as that.

The guy was a rude prick and he had it coming. This guys steps out of the office we were waiting at, and I asked him a question about getting a form and he passed by me, ignoring me so I had a "I just a patient so fuck me, right?!" reaction, at witch point the guy probably took that as an offense and blurred about me showing up a few minute later than my future colleagues. So I, ironically, asked if that means that he's not going to give me a form and that I should come back another day. He got all butthurt and promised to give me a form.
After that, with me around, he would victimize himself, completely ignoring the fact that if he hadn't acted like an asshole and answered my question with a simple "yes", "just a moment" or "hold that though" I would not have made him look like the asshole he was in front of all those people.
Like ixi said, the infamous medical bureaucracy. And that happened at a private clinic too.

Nope, Europe. Romania to be precise, and yes, some social (rednecks/jersey shore types) categories here have a complete disregard for basic personal hygiene. Other users that live here know what I mean.
Though in this case I assume the company has high standards regarding it's employees colons/diet/etc.
Also, this particular chain is german in origin.
