The game is great, tried playing it today and totally love it.

About sound issues, I am not really sure what could cause it but it could be several reasons. For example, sometimes when you watch a xvid movie in XBMC the sound can start to crackle sometimes and a restart will solve it. It might be the same with this game for some people. Try restarting your xbox or shut it off, let it be for 2 hours and then try again.

It could also be a coming hardware failure like the MCPX chip getting bad (only happens with xbox 1.0 as far as I know atleast).
Also check with any dashboard if you have abnormal temperatures anywhere. Check if all fans are spinning like they should and so on. If nothing of the above applies try with transfer it to the xbox again/burn a new one.

Other than that it might also be a possible bug with the game on some xbox's.

Note: About MCPX failure, it is very little chance that it will happen so no need to panic about it. Smile

I have a pal xbox with an old chip in it, and have got no problems whatsoever apart from not having enough time to play all these top games! Far Cry is fuckin excellent. dont care if the pc version was better, if it was better then it must have been pretty special, coz i think this version ROCKS!!

I didn't get to play Far Cry that much on Xbox. I just got pass the part where you drive in that vehicle, it was great. I love how you have to conserve your bullets and rely on instinct, or else, you're screw. I die several times before becuase i kept on running out of ammo for my pistol, and I got spotted and I try to stab them, but I was out number.

Is there no way to turn off auto-aim?? I can't find an option to deactivate it. That sucks! Or am I blind because the IGN review says: "The targeting reticule is large and auto-aiming is noticeable when activated." Confused

Damn! It's pretty lame to play with auto-aim. Even when your crosshair is one meter away from the enemy it's nevertheless red and you will hit him. Rolling Eyes

Finally got around to unpacking and burning this one but couldn't get into the game at all, theres no denying its a solid FPS game but compared to the PC version I just didn't find it as enjoyable.

Its nice that they tryed something different with it like the setting traps and didn't just try to do a straight port of the story or the content in the PC game but playing it just makes me want to boot up the PC version and complete it again. Smile

Ive played the PC version through and I think what they did for the console is really cool! Unfortunately you have to play the game through to realise the major differences or read my spoiler!

 Spoiler:

Did you guys know Jack Carver is voiced by Stephen Dorff who played Deacon Frost in Blade among other characters in other movies!

Cheers for the info Very Happy

Yeah i know about dorff, can't say he's a good actor, just my 2 cents... Blade single handed destroyed whats good in vampire movies, oh and those horrible dracula 3000 or what ever....

I see well. im just wondering how it will pick up with the pc story, I guess I'll find out Very Happy

I didn't play right through the full game obviously cause I wasn't hugely enthused by it but the story is similiar in alot of ways you start on your boat with a girl who decides to go investigating onto the island then your character takes a nap, shortly afterwards you wakes up to find gunships converging on your boat which is abruptly blown to pieces and from that point on you take over.

Swimming onto the island you recover an earpiece which a mystery character will use to guide you around the island (much like the pc version). I see from the intro movie that they have alot of vehicles and possibly the worst part of the PC version in near enough everybodys opinion they have those mutated soldier/genetic weapon creatures this time though they have decided to give you powers as well. There was a video of your character making a very lengthy leap across a ravine and another video showing him with a different mode of vision kind of like something out of Area 51 when you get your powers. Headshot probably knows more about this stuff he seems to have progressed much further into the game.

The multiplayer is the part which interested me the most as in my opinion it was one of the weaker aspects of Far Cry on the PC. In this the multiplayer is fairly typical of console FPS games, bags of options, different modes of play - just lots of fun basically. Nothing compared to Timesplitters IMO but still great.

Im just gonna install Far Cry for the PC and seek out some mods for it, may find something to spice it up a little although if enough people are raving about this game I'll probably come back to it at some point. Smile

Oh yeh Dracula 3000 that has to be one of the worst movies ever made, Vampires Vs Zombies also had a good hand in polluting both the Zombie and Vampire genre of films makes Blade look like Oscar material. Very Happy

yeah, what i liked about the pc version was the feel of freedom, where as here it feels more like following a narrow path, camp, narrow path, camp, narrow...

water is nice though. Very Happy

I played the demo, and I saw a few paths, but story wise I didn't get it... then again I haven't played the pc version since 2004. Dude I loved the mutant soldiers, farcry for pc was boring...until the horror kicked in, those demon rocket launcher dudes (terrible scream) I loved the whole part Smile

ROFL Very Happy

@Nailbiter

Remember fc is pushing the xbox to it's limits, you wan't see huge mountains/jungles as you did in the pc version. Thats why the game might feel a bit linear, but if you explore a little you'll see theres at least 4-5 entries you can use Smile

nonono, i think he meant how many maps there is in split screen mp.

you can change in options/settings when you set up game. press up or down or whatever to the map you selected and press green, then choose map of liking. there is about 10.

edit: and then you can always use your own maps as well.

i really wish that there where an option to turn the music off, its quite annoying to hear music while you are stalking your "prey"or trying to hear the enemy´s chitchat.
Music is good to make a dramatic/action/horror scene within the game but all the time? no thanks

One of the worst things in games is when they have music that reacts to the situation, i.e. your about to be set upon by a dozen heavily armed soldiers and are completely unaware that its about to happen....that is until the music changes - its like having your own personal alarm system. Very Happy
