Yeah I'm interested but not until they've added mouse+keyboard support so I'll probably skip most of the early-access period.

Not gonna happen until close to end of the year on how they worded it.

If you’re that kind of person, you may be wondering: When does Early Access begin? We’re deciding that this week. Stay tuned. |

Quote: | Greetings, PC players! Our Early Access version hits Steam on Friday, September 20th.
Our publisher is pricing it at twenty bucks, same as the Xbox version. Those willing to throw in with us at Undead Labs and your fellow early adopters will automatically get the final version, completely free, with no need to restart, when we officially launch later this year.
What you’ll see this Friday, if you choose to join forces with us to make the PC version kick ass, is a test version. It’s not ready to be reviewed. It will not be perfect. It may still have crashes. What it won’t have is a keyboard and mouse interface…not at first. Why not? Over the next however many weeks, we will be putting up versions of the keyboard interface and using your comments and feedback to make it awesome. Right this minute, the Early Access version requires an Xbox 360 controller.
This process is not for everyone. Casual players, the easily frustrated, and the short of time should NOT get the Early Access version. Hey, I am all three of those things, y’all. Those are not criticisms. It’s just that we want everyone to have the experience that best suits their needs. You all deserve the best, so if you’re not into giving feedback, just wait a few months and play the version we made the best we could.
It will be the best we could, with the help of the rest of you – the hardcore early adopters that made SoD into something big. Who’s in? |

Isn't the point of early access to sell a game for less money so players can help test it? Why should anyone buy an unfinished game for full price?

Who knows what the point of EA is anymore. Steam just wanted to sell unfinished games and get in on the Kickstarter etc stuff

Pop in still atrocious it seems, but the framerate went from "ARE THEY FUCKING SERIOUS?!" level up to "ugh this is choppy".

So the framerate still sucks on PC? Okay, State.of.Decay.Early.Access-3DM for me then, at least until they fix it.. and if they don't? Oh well, no fix no pay.

I've yet to come across any game where the performance has really improved from "beta" to "final", despite developers constantly talking about how optimisation is the last thing. Just look at shit like Company of Heroes 2. Terrible performance in beta (omg it's a beta, noob!!!!1) and then in final/retail too (omg! they'll patch it, noob!)
~edit~
Watching the video right now, it does seem immeasurably improved over the 360 version at least.

The IGN guys might be using a crappy setup, they said something about running it on a modest PC and that the game would run better on higher end components.

same old bullshit argument, its the default response when they feel people will notice and complain spoiling ones so many min's of fame.
there is not a shit load of anything different in SOD compared to anyother small open world play area.. its not THAT BIG thats right compared to other games that run fine btw and have no shitty remarks about why something is performing bad
you dont go test something of new on some secretary type pc for just word or something knowing it will want to be seen by the public... either a) they are fucking retarded and dont deserve to make any real choices how to run where they work, or b) they are just retarded.. oh did I say that
