PS4 they haven't done much with yet, but the PC config has some substantial changes in the way you'd expect; much higher pedestrian counts, higher texture pools and even things like radiuses for AI and traffic (+lights ). Also notable is the fact that the current PC config does AI calculations more frequently. Obviously this is for development purposes only, but the insanely increased values show that they *do* run on the PC and *are* testing |
I thought it's a known fact by now that some developers use 360 emulators to test stuff. |
There are no 360 emulators. Not even for devs - otherwise that would leak or at least be known about.
They simply compile GTA for PC architecture because it's easier than compiling for consoles, sending it to a dev kit and running from there. |
Oh, but there is.
I really wish I wasn't under an NDA, though.

It was basically a VM that started in the Dashboard and you ran the game from there. The X1 is what I'm talking about, absolutely no clue about the 360 since I only worked on PC before, Garus may be right, seeing as how the 360 is a different architecture than PC/PS4/X1
No need to get fucky about it.

There is no 360 emulator. What you're describing is perfectly feasible for the XBO, because that at least shares the same instruction set as the PC (and most likely more of the OS, kernel and APIs are shared than is the case on the 360), although more likely that "VM" is in fact a compatibility layer and not an actual emulator. Look WINE up - that's a compatibility layer as well, not a VM or emulator.
360 or PS3? No. They're at the point for the PS3 where they can have some homebrew cube with a single texture rotate at about 0.5 FPS.
If there had been anything that could even remotely get close to emulating anything from the PS360, you would've a lot more about it on the hump

I see. I'm sorry I acted how I did, when obviously I was wrong, I thought it would be possible, for the 360, at least, for something such as this to exist, since development stuff is very, very hush hush on the X1, I can only assume it is the same in the 360 units. I really do wish I wasn't under an NDA, some of the stuff I see is really, really interesting and I could validate some of the stuff I'm saying around the forum, but alas, it simply cannot be.

No worries, I wasn't really ridiculing you or anything, I thought you were trolling to be honest
But no, the 360 and PS3 won't be emulated for a long, long time. Just the instruction set alone is a big issue.
The XBO is not *that* hush-hush though. At least I know a fair bit about both consoles by now, even though the console section folk don't believe anything I say because I'm not a marketing spoderman
On the bright side for us PC gamers, both actually support everything that's planned for D3D 11.3 in the actual hardware; their architectures are both a fair bit beyond GCN on the desktop right now (that might change in a week and a half though ).

Wonder if they'll officially announce it for PC/PS4 any time soon or if it'll be a "game of the year" edition further down the road.

you don't know any more than the average tech savvy person who reads usual tech sites and forums. some people probably just don't like how you present your posts, you like to talk at people from above, and not like you are equal with other members here. hope this doesn't upset your ego much |
Well I'm sorry, but when half of my post is skipped over entirely just because a single word doesn't appeal to someone, I do start talking "from above".
And you're right, I'm just a bit tech savvy rather than an industry professional, but that doesn't mean that what I'm saying is false. And certainly not disproven by some dipshit marketing dickhead from Microsoft; as if they'll *ever* admit their hardware really is that much slower. Even though things like them adding the two bandwidths up and presenting them as one shouldn't make sense to anyone. That's like adding the bandwidth from an ethernet connection and a WiFi connection up together and saying that that's your total bandwidth, it just doesn't work that way. Just for the record though, that analogy is *way* closer to the memory situation in the XBO than would seem logical, down to the split bandwidth for WiFi.
Anyway to turn back on topic, the XML files pulled do show that they really have already begun testing what they can squeeze out of a PC. There is no doubt that it's coming really; but weirdly the PS4 has barely received any tweaks and the XBO isn't even present. That might (here's me being hopeful) indicate they'll launch Next-gen consoles + PC at the same time, with PC being the reference platform.

I have no doubt GTA5 will come to PC but I won't be buying a copy as I've already bought it for PS3.
They won't get 2 copies out of me. I'll be pirating it ASAP.
It's up to Rockstar if they decide to bring it to PC but don't expect gamers to wait or buy 2 copies of the same game on different systems. That's just taking the piss.

hopefully they'll launch it on the new consoles and PC with fully enabled physics and car deformation
i also noticed the cars refuses to flip, there's some weird force fighting the rolling momentum even in the air, so as they always land on their wheels or close

The entries are specific to PC and Orbis, along with other specific entries for 360. |
There's emulators for orbis and durango.
pretty sure theirs nothing for the 360, its not been in any of the sdk's ive seen

Oh they can flip just fine, but you can also control movement in the air by using the left analogue stick.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about the XML configuration file that was released and it has entries for 360, PC and Orbis. This has already been covered so far, just read up ^^ And no, there are no emulators for XBONE or PS4. API layers, maybe, they are PCs after all, but emulators? I severely doubt it.

Looks like there's some problem with the disc install feature for the X360 version, or well one of the discs at least should not be installed on the HDD.
(Didn't another game have that issue a while back? Skyrim was it? ) |
Seems like that is the issue a lot of pirates were complaining about with all the pop in of textures. I hope my USB drive will work well enough to install the Play disk on it like Digital Foundry suggests to fix the problem and have the retail game fully installed tomorrow.
It is kind of dumb for Rockstar to be so silent about it other then just saying do not install the Play disk on there twitter yesterday.
