I am very very disappointed. Truly.... nothing has changed, nothing. It's exactly like CoD only with better graphics and new effects. You're with an entire squad but strangley (as in CoD) you're the only one doing something. You can go to a fight and wait 6 hours and still your allies will be fighting the axis with no advances, what so ever, at every corner they stop for you to go in and clear the situation for them so they can advance to the next obstacle, which you alone, will once again have to overcome.

Dont play with easiest setting Razz

Why the hell do some people not like scripted sequences?? Scripted sequences make a great game and there can never be enough of them imo. I really don't see any rational reason to dislike them. Confused

Scripted sequences give the game a very artificial, fake feel and kill the replayability. Why? Because you've seen it all once and you know you're going to see the exact same thing when you play it again.

It's nothing to do with disliking scripted sequences. Operation Flashpoint had scripted sequences. It's how the scripted sequences are embedded into the game that matters and as far as the likes of MOH and all of it's clones goes they do it in such a mediocre manner which is entirely linear.

I've said it before - but when you land on Omaha beach your not participating in the war you're making your way up to the bunkers by breaking a puzzle (which is very quickly realised to be; see that cover, run to it, hide, wait for scripted gun shooting to stop and find next cover. Rinse, and repeat).

The games are built around this kind of forced gameplay which while satisfying to some leaves others left thinking, well... thinking why they can't think for themselves.

really nice demo. short but nice!
in my opinion the most relevant part in Call of Duty is the MultiPlayer.
i still play CoD UO MP and CoD2 will just make it more sweet. new maps, new mods, new gfx, same cool feeling!
i think this game goes out to all CoD gamers, and there are alot of them out there, as it is one of the most played MP Games on the web.

Well I understand that but there's an easy solution - don't play it a second time. I never play a game twice. It just a waste of time. There are hundreds other games to play. And the first time is always amazing with a lot of scripted sequences. Smile

The fact it is so scripted takes away the amazement as far as I'm concerned. If they actually did something that in the world of videogames wasn't cliche or monotonous then fair enough - but they rarely, if ever, do.

Having been spoilt by games that actually move the fps genre forward like opf, bf42, bf2 the CoD2 demo was godawful in terms of "next gen". I actually enjoyed Mohaa very much (made by these same chaps) but ever since then other games have moved forward while Infinity Ward stays still.

Even games like Halo2 that have some next gen elements like vehicles, pushable physics objects etc make CoD2 feel so six years ago.. and I make the comparison not only cause both are FPS, but cause CoD2 is an X360 launch title and as such is in many places more last gen than the last gen! And I didnt like Halo1 for the same reason, only the driving parts were next gen.

Funnily CoD fans often dismiss games like BF42 or OPF, but it is infact CoD who TRIED to emulate vehicular MP combat in CoD:UO, doing so without proper physics and ending up being not much fun (the vehicle part).

My rig is A643200+, 6800GT and 2GB RAM.

I'm guessing you haven't even played the game. When you're in a building and then you go outside it's bright like that for a second and then the blooming dims down. Like your eyes are adjusting to the brightness. DOD is a great game. Such a fun multiplayer game.

same boring crap as COD 1. How do you guys get shadows enabled? The shadows are crappy looking for me, and there's no option for better shadows.

Uhm, ya, but you wont get the nice effects due to the 9600. I think it gets stuck in dx7 mode with 9600

Kinda shitty. They could atleast have used dx8 for people that dont have a dx9 card.
Maybe there already is a dx8 mode that automaticly kicks in if you have a dx8 card? If there are any shaders on a 9600pro it does run in dx8, if not it's dx7. So it shuld be easy to tell.

runs like crap on my 9800xt, 3.0ghz intel, 2 gig ram, etc, etc. even in 1028x768, no AA, low/med settings, latest drivers.

shame, cause i loved COD, even though it was mindless.

Here is a good comparison on the "bug" that makes textures worse on higher resolutions.
http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=182&page=2

1280 looks far better than 1600. And the best image quality is archived on a 512mb card.
That shows why people get so different results when it comes to the graphics.
The 512mb card also crushes the lower memory cards when it comes to performance.

Ive never seen such amazing smoke effect, I mean I actually think my monitor is on fire.
I cant wait to buy this fucker just for the multiplayer experience.
And I also have zero problems with this game, it runs amazingly well at 1280x1024x32 everything set as high as possible, 4xaa 4xaf, get avg of 50's (firefights) 65-80's (running around).

I never said it didn't run good on a 256mb card SyscoShaman, I said that the best performance/visuals are archived on a 512mb card. Smile
