Yup, was just about to post that as well. I didn't know this until after I had purchased my Sony Optiarc burner, but you no longer need to have a revision b ihas burner. You can use the burnermax payload tool with a rev c/d one and it should work. The only thing with the payload tool, is that it isn't 100% reliable and you can get a shit burn in many cases (according to the many threads I have read over the past few days). You need to run the payload tool each time you are burning an xgd3 game to "trick" your burner. Plenty of guides out there to walk you through it...
Yes, the disks should be able to install with this method. It's the same as flashing your firmware, just not as reliable....
God... all this shit got so confusing these past few years.

I wonder what it's like to be part of the major release groups right now. Are they like constantly harassing their "insider"? Are they as excited as us? Will they play first before release? Haha.. must be fun to be part of the "bigger" groups right now.

getting closer now! Time to start the review lottery.
IGN will give it a 10 calling it a masterpiece.
Gamespot will give it a 9.5
Polygon 8 and Destructoid 7 just because.

I rather like this policy. Wish my employer did the same.
I wasn't thinking of GTA V when I took my vacation time two weeks ago.

From a business owners standpoint, closing a gamestore the next day after the biggest game of the year releases, seems rather stupid.

@sTo0z
Lol, they must be as excited as us, if not more since they are in "the scene". My money is on a p2p release for gta5 followed by lots of drama and craziness on every forum "OMG WHATS TAKING SO LONG, PROOF, HURRY UP, SLOW UPLOAD....etc" haha, will be a fun ride.
@sabin1981
Glad you didn't mention the payload tool to me last week lol, as I would have been struggling with it now. I ended up doing some quick homework, and for a few $$ more I ended up getting the hassle free Sony drive which works flawlessly
If anyone is still in the market for a xgd3 drive, def pick this one up. As far as I know it is no longer in production, and they are only selling the remaining stock

Money apparently has different meaning over here :\ All the places I looked wanted *at least* 900kr to RGH the machine and selling pre-glitched machines often went for 2000kr and up. That's €112 and €250 respectively. In England I could pick up a pre-glitched machine for less than it would cost to glitch my existing one over here, so I just gave up caring. Even buying a kit and doing it myself would be expensive; soldering iron? Around 250kr, R-JTAG kits aren't sold over here so it would have to be imported and equivalent price would be another 400kr not to mention import fees for anything over 200kr.
.... and it's me, remember? So even if I HAD the money, even if I HAD the tools, I'd likely slip and score track along the motherboard and break it

You may get lucky... or you may not... it REALLY is that much of a lottery from what I can tell

Yup, I get you completely. It would have been hell trying to deal with that, my mate Damien just gave up in the end, so many wasted discs that didn't work despite IMGburn claiming they had burnt correctly.

Not if they do not get more than just a handful of copies.
