there's not one good music playback application on the android that i've experienced. nothing comes close to how simple the ipod app is on ios. neatly organized. no fuss.

You obviously have not tried Sony Walkman player. Not sure if it available on android devices other than Sony Xperia.

Best audio player imo ( but have been a huge fan of sony walkman since it's early forms)

Yeah its too complicated for apple bro´s Laughing Anyway Walkman in my Xperia Z is awesome, sound quality is amazing on it, especially how it handles bass.
