|
 |
Quote: | We have a full listing of specs of the Note 3 compared to the second-gen version, but here are the biggies. There will be two basic models: one with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset and one that uses a 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core SoC. All of them will feature Android 4.3, a 13MP rear camera with Smart Stabilization, a 2MP front-facing shooter, 3GB RAM, your choice of 32 or 64GB internal storage, microSDXC support, IR LED, MHL 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and a 3,200mAh removable battery. LTE Cat4 support is also included (with up to six different band sets, depending on your region's needs), along with quadband DC-HSPA+ 42Mbps and quadband GSM / EDGE. By the way, the rear camera is capable of recording UHD resolution at 30fps and full HD at 60fps.
Before we dive into that, however, let's cruise through some of the basics: the new Note has a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED panel, giving the user roughly 386 ppi to work with -- plenty more than the first two Notes, which both pulled in less than 300. It's noticeably brighter than its predecessor and offers great views from almost any angle.
Measuring 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm, the Note 3 is 1.3mm narrower than the second Note (3.8mm narrower than the first), as well as 1.1mm thinner and 0.1mm taller. It weighs 168 grams, 12g lighter than its father. We continue to marvel at Samsung's ability to make phones with larger displays and yet trim down their overall size. |

HTC changed their design language every generation since the Sensation. The difference between the One X and the One are so monumental, it leaves Samsung in the dust. Colleague of mine has the One, I have the One X, the only similarity between them is the screen, which is the exact same size. The difference between the S3 and S4 is way too small. And the Note 3 is no stranger to this issue. Inb4 "the hardware counts" argument appears.
I know you were sarcastic, I am actually let down by this, Samsung is slowly becoming very, very bland.

Slowly? The mobile division of Samsung has been "bland" for very long time. You being disappointed only now is funny.

Yep. It is a widely known fact that products we've loved so much up to the moment of the successor release cease to function and one must get the new one. Happened with Apple iPad 3 -> iPad 4 as well.

The guy that drops his S3 from waist height and it shatters, that's who gives a crap about premium materials.

It´s all about personal taste anyway.

compared to an iphone... my s2 felt cheap... s2lte felt cheap as well..
both broke really easily. s2 fell from 2 feet and shattered the internal screen...
s2lte survived 70lb of crates being smashed on top of it... and it shattered to pieces from falling out of my pocket.
iphones break easily too... but if you grip your iphone really hard it doesn't feel fragile. with the galaxy models i held... you could snap the phone in half... it feels fragile. it isn't... it can survive a lot... but it also can be destroyed by a simple mistake. also they're just as expensive... lack the apps... lack the os responsiveness... lack game responsiveness... lack proper audio support... just so much is missing from it being a proper smartphone... i'd rather have ios on an android phone than not have ios at all.
hardware wise they're nice... but they just don't have that feel when you use them.

Not impressed by note3 at all.
If it is anything like S4, it will burn in hand. My friend have s4 and it starts boiling and eating battery as soon as he launches anything. Even camera. so snapdragon is a big no for me.
They have not improved battery. And it might only be worse because of snapdragon/higher clocks than it is on note 2.
3gb is also uselsess for me(but a good addition nevertheless). On note2 ram use never goes above about 1.3gb. (I guess it might with 1080p) and on note2 most apps are kept in ram and everything already launches extremely fast.
I also never was a big 1080p fan on the smartphones. Even on huge 5.5 note2 screen, pixel density is very good and even tho screen is "ONLY" 720p, I cannot see each pixels or aliasing. Only with microscope (Yes, I used a microsocpe to see pixels. It is the only way. not by eye, so 1080p is useless resource eater in my opinion)
5.7 sounds fine. happy they didn't went higher. 6' s an absolute limit.
The only thing that is impressive is a camera. Sound fantastic. Note2 have already fantastic camera but this seems even better. Whatever - I was planning on getting some cheap megazoom bridge camera anyway
Not sure If I like the look. The leather on N3 back might actually be a good idea tho!
Samsung always uses bad materials. Note2 also isnt perfect in that regard. The fit of elements is great. Screen is great. Back is cheap and replacable so scratching it is no biggie, but I would wish they used other material for silver bezel on note2. It feels really good and slick in hand, but if I was to say ANYthing I don't like about note2, is that silver bezel. It is jsut shiny plastic. Anyway - neither bezel or back on my note2 are not damaged or scratched. It is still perfect and feels so slick in hand. I really like the way n2 looks.
I was hoping they will do what htc does. Aluminium and rubber on their phones gives great feel. Samsung was always too cheap on materials(besides screen).
That way or another - I am not going to change. I will keep my note2 unless bargain happens. IMO N2 still best android device on the market. (I am on my second note2. First one had defected body (bad fit, gap between screen and bezel)). I just had bad luck. Note2 I have now for a couple of months is perfect. Everything fits. nothing squeeks. I don't even use screen protector and I don't have scratches. But since the battery life is excellent on note2 and performance is already very buttery smooth in all areas, I don't expect n3 to do any of those much better. the only areas n3 might actually be better is durability of body and used materials and camera. Both of those things which are already good on n2 anyway.
I guess, You already know but man do I love my n2 It is so fast and responsive. Typing with stylus is great. camera is great, the spen functions are very usefull, like screenshots or taking notes. Using spen for browsing web is fantastic. I am using it very often. Thanks to airview, there is actuall cursor when I am hovering spen over screen which gives a nice feedback and helps with sites that have retractable menus and so on!
battery is great, screen is fantastic. I compared it to s3 and s4 and was not impressed by those. s3 was just slower but even tho s4 should be much faster and it was lagging and frying itself and its battery. Maybe it still needs some updates. it is still a new device.
with n2 I can go for 3 days and 5-6hours onscreen time on a battery, browse web easily.
I am not a guy who switches to new device only because it is 3 instead of 2 If samsung wont do anything about materials and durability feeling, I might not buy from them anymore.

I am serious. My friend have snapdragon s4 (standard not google) and it is a fucking torch and it eats battery. I see it everyday. I work with the guy.
The other guy I know who have s4, is a samsung maniac. he owns every new samsung smartphone and would never say bad thing about it so I don't trust him with his opinions. he obviously love his s4 and says its better than anything and have no cons.
Why would I lie
edit:looking at the video again - it looks a lot like note1 actually. I am not sure how well it will slide in pocket. note2 is tolerable because it is so smooth on the edged and it slides into pocket.

I was thinking of changing my phone as well, but after further analysis, besides the obvious financial problems, there really is no reason to upgrade from the One X, since I barely play on it and I use it as an organizer or music player, and I honestly can't complain about it where this is concerned.

Why would you want to upgrade a One X for jesus sakes? Just make sure to install the clean Google rom (clean other than Google ads ).

It's unlocked so I get ROM's straight from HTC. The only bloatware on it is a service named 7digital which can be disabled...other than that, absolutely nothing.
Also, if I turn S to off (S-off) warranty will be void and there's still a year on it. Afterwards, I will most def try a Cyanogen ROM or something close to it, everyone knows how shitty HTC firmware support is nowadays.
About getting a new one? I don't know, I had this really stupid, stupid idea in my head that I needed a bigger screen but I tried the N2 and it was way too big for me. 4.7 inches is the perfect screen size for me.
