anyone have probs getting this to work?downloaded english iso and used german crack.made the changes for speech etc. but as soon as games loads i get "out of memory error" and crash to desktop. bah!!!!! its not memory as ive 2GB.

ever though that often using crack from different versions may cause problems?

Hi once the addon is installed go to \Gothic2\_work\Data\Scripts\Content\Cutscene
there will be 4 files OU.DAT OU.BIN OU.lsc OU.csl Delete the *.bin and *.lsc files, then rename OU.dat to OU.bin and OU.csl to OU.lsc once done get the german v2.6 crack then you have the full english working.

Give us some more info: system specs, does it load the virtual file system, what is the exact error message ect...

pumbertot.1 my specs P4 3.4 512ram GeForce5700 XP and SP2 my sisters comp P3 1.6 "i think" 512ram GeForce6600 the game works great on both comps, did you try the game on an XP SP2 comp ?

Your soundcard might be the problem, I found this on the jowood forums
First I would check if your drivers are up to date,
if that fails disable Hardware acceleration in dxdiag,
if that fails disabe it in hardware properties (as sugested on hte jowood forums)

I have a problem er with speech in the new addon. When ever I talk to a character that is new in the addon, the speech is gone, so I'm not able to either see or hear what he has to say.
I've enabled subtitles, but nothing shows up at all, it just skips to the next menu where I can select my response.
I haven't renamed the cutsceens, but the game itself starts perfectly.
I'm not at home atm, so I can't try the renaming process right now.
I downloaded a english ISO and used the german 2.6 crack. All the other voices worked, and the 'new?' cutsceene at the beginning, the one with the stone monsters or something works as it should.

Just rename those files, the cutscenes will still work as they should in the addon

nope this will not work for me.not removing the audigy just to play it so deleted it.shame but will just have to make do with fable and wait for gothic3.

Would be nice that someone would release a clone of this game, because it'll be way easier than to hope and think that with use of the german crack for the english release we won't loose something...

Yep great stuff, but fricking hell.. talk about a pain in the arse to burn/install.. im gonna buy it anyway.. A game like gothic is well worth 30 quid
