Also, I fail to see your Apple connection. iTunes is a music store and they advertise it as such. Had Apple released a product called "Apple iPod American Idol", I would agree. But let's assume Apple does it too; how exactly does Apple doing it make it any more acceptable here?  |
If you don't see the similarity in how the promotion takes place, I don't know what to tell you. I just took that as an example, there are tons of other companies doing similar things. What the fuck do car brands have to do with talent shows? Do I think it's "unacceptable"? No, because this is how advertisement has worked for 50 years. There's no "(un)acceptable" in this, this is just how it has been since long before you and I were born.
Lego has been associated with everything from snacks and soft-drinks to fucking shampoo. At least here there's some humour in naming the OS release that - which *does* fit their naming scheme.
I prefer this over all the false advertising we get in actual ads these days. |

The issue is, if a small company wishes to take the open-source Android and does not wish to pay to Google to license their apps (which Chrome is part of), they have to implement one of their own or pay someone for theirs. Firefox is free, yes, but their license is very unfriendly for a company that does not wish to have a GPL over their head. The rest you mention are likely in the same license category or not free. So yes, Samsung, HTC, etc. - they have the money to either license Google's crap or write their own, but a small company may not. The issue is Scroogle trouts "open" and yet deliberately closes everything off.

Massive multinational company stepping on almost any rights you can name. Melamines, child labor, greenwashing, e. coli, palm oil, horse meat issue, water hoax, false advertisement, price fixings, illegal milk farms, et cetera and the list goes on.
And Nestle has it's tentacles EVERYWHERE. Just few samples:
