Btw, anyone see the similarity of the "new" engine to the quake engine? I mean *.iwd files are just basic zips as pk3 files were, the console comands are basically the same. So is the directory structure.
Runs like crap on my system. p4 3.0 and 6800gt
Maps are in bsp format, and that is what id games use.
For the Motherland!

it looks good but the last set of screenshots on gamershell looks like Call of Duty 1..the graphics look like shit in those. Like they dont use the nice looking shading effects as in the other ones, and blob shadows. I dont understand.
Anyways, I hope the demo will run on my computer...looking better than that crap.

I just checked Nvidia users forum (www.nvnews.net) and it seems that the demo is not very stable from a FPS point of view (even on high-end rig's). Let's hope they'll fix that on the retail version...

eh..got it working - run smooth on my shitty comp?!? Anywayz - only needed latest ATI drivers and got it working. Not really that much different vs. 1st CoD - but still nice (like the 1st)

The fact that I haven't even bothered to complete the demo should mean something; if you found the repetitive action of COD to be ultimately scripted, pointless and lame - you aren't going to find much refuge in it's sequel. |

Btw, graphics are far better than dod:source. But still not that awesome. |
Nah I disagree, Dod looks better then CoD2 with its HDR rendering and far superior textures...

Looks ok but not amazing. |
There is a reported bug in the game where using 1600x1200 reduces the texture quality and turns off bumpmaps. This is what your screens look like.
Using higher or lower resolutions than 1600x1200 gives normal graphics.

I didn't much like CoD, so my expectations with CoD2 were met.
I prefer non-scripted scenes with non-dumbed down realism.
The kids will love this one though.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

I am very very disappointed. Truly.... nothing has changed, nothing. It's exactly like CoD only with better graphics and new effects. You're with an entire squad but strangley (as in CoD) you're the only one doing something. You can go to a fight and wait 6 hours and still your allies will be fighting the axis with no advances, what so ever, at every corner they stop for you to go in and clear the situation for them so they can advance to the next obstacle, which you alone, will once again have to overcome. The game is still scripted to the max and I see now new functions, what I see is CoD with a new coat....
I did not await for CoD2, since I knew it was going to be the same sit all over again and I was right. There are too many MOH games, other WW2 games and CoD that are just like CoD2 so there's no reason for me to play this at all. If I want graphics I'll go for Doom3 or HL2, Fear, if I want CoD2 gameplay, I'll play CoD. If I truly want a good WW2 game I'll play Red Orchestra. This game is a waist of money and time by the studio who made it in my opinion, but as Fisk said, the kids will like it.
