Why don't you buy a gateway 3ds ? It can also play DS backups.

Well thanks for the replies anyway guys.
cyclonefr, at the moment there is no proof gateway will work on more recent firmwares right? so at the moment unless you have a 3DS on an earlier firmware, then what's the point over R4i gold?

As of right now, the Gateway has a FW spoof function which should - in theory, for now at least - let you play later games on 4.5.0. That may change though, if it's like the PS3 scene where new games use functions from later SDK and firmware versions. Still, if you DO get the Gateway then the "blue" card in the package is, if I'm not mistaken, an R4 also. It's used for playing DS titles while the "red" card is for 3DS.

Yes, it even works on 6.1 as far as I know.
