I don't know which package to pick.
All these $$$ addons and the presence of subscriptions (even if optional) are a little scary.
I know it is meant to raise funding but hell, I hate missing stuff in my games and so I am afraid to fall in a "money drop spiral".
Anyway, the Twitch TV stream about hangar presentation have convinced me that I NEED this thing.
The 100€ Freelancer package is tempting me (because of this sexy ship and it is the way I plan to play the game).
But should I take it straight or rather pick a basic package and work my way out in the game (after release) to earn it ? That is the question...

I hate to say it, but this "imminent" release is gonna hurt them a bit. People rage over all sorts of shit these days, and delays are a high cause for them.
Maybe I'm biased due to playing FFXIV lately and their issues hehe, but I still stand by my overall point.
Regardless, I hope it's released soon as I really would like to see what it looks like. And, if it goes like I think it will, I'll prolly pick up another ship (or two.....or three)

Just buy the one you think the game is worth or you have money for You can always play on unofficial servers or host one yourself where everything is unlocked anyway

I took the basic package and never putted more into it. I do get tempted every now and then but I just want to start with the minimum and then work my way up (So far I haven't given in, but never say never!)
While I know it's still early, I wanna mark this point in time.
SC is currently at $16,494,268 in funds as of 4:30pm PST. Lets give it a day or so and revisit this figure. I know it's on their site, but lets mark it here as well.
This module could cause a massive rush of further funds. Or, it could actually slow things down. Lets see how it goes

Some ships are missing sound effects and or interior footstep sounds
Post processing artifact effect present in Deluxe hangar
Character feet can have a jittering effect during walking animation
Exiting the Freelancer animation is offset
Exiting the 300i and variants ships animation is offset
Hornet missing floor geometry
Unable to enter turrets in Freelancer and Constellation
Unable to enter bathroom in Constellation
Mounting discount hangar ladder in first person then switching to third person causes character to be stuck in climbing animation and character is unable to navigate normally until restart

Well I was talking to Paul about it earlier and, since the Hangar preview video went up the other day, there was a huge spike of over $100k in donations - they're taking something nuts like $70k a day now \o/

Well, as I expected, it's not exactly exciting. But it sure is looking pretty. You can't beat Cryengine's real-time local reflections. The metal looks great. I forced FXAA through Nvidia control panel and I'm averaging 45-55 fps on Very High. The lowest I saw it dip down to was about 39 fps. Running an i5-2500k, Gtx 770 OC, 16gb ram. Here are a few screenshots.
Finally downloads, I launch and "Account login connection error" or some such silliness. Fuck it, I'm going to bed.. perhaps the launch issues will be cleared up by the time I wake up
