Steam update from 23 september completely fucked up my counterstrikeS and i own a legit copy but because what happend and how it screwed my gameplay (fps) it wasnt that slow before it gave me like 40-45 fps no with theit shit it drops to 19-20 fps of course it could be their new lightning feature on video options, maybe not. maybe the servers still havent got the new code making it lag.I uninstalled it completely and fuck DoD!. Steam is the most ridiculous thing i've ever met and i am not willing to contribute to more thievery from them.By the way DoD looks impresive and the new upcoming half-life does either but i will not pay more money so that steam shit updates whenever it likes and screw everything.Even the uninstall failed because of all that stuff that steam updates.....garbage .....garbage SteamkilledmyCSSfever.

Kommando, how faithful is it to the original DOD?

Pretty much the same, didnt play that much cause i have some serious frames issues, dont know if its from shitty server or the game is another screw up like CSS..what ever my quality settings are, i play with around 13 frames..sucks

Anyway from what ive seen, all players got melee attack but they throw a punch (MP40, MP44) A lot of poeple are using the grenade launching mauser, the bazooka seems to make way much damage but the sounds are incredible, when poeple are far, the sounds is completely different...anyway you should try it for yourself or wait to buy it tomorrow...although i found this kind of a rip off to sell a game with only 4 maps...what do you expect..its Valve Laughing

I already bought it as I have the silver package. So I'm just waiting basically. I know about the sound system - it's actually the same thing HL2 uses I think - where it kind of muffles far away sounds? I think that is what everyone is talking about anyway?

I haven't had any frame issues with CS:S either myself, in the beginning it was laggy because of the physics but the latest updates have been smooth for me.

Anyway thanks for the response Smile

(BTW they are going to add more maps and everything after the release)

This is pathetically bad.

I almost paid $20 for it, just because a bunch of my friends were going to play together. So Huzah for filtering out the crap.

Well youre kind of right...been waiting for more than a year for this game and end up with only 4 maps, beleive me that after 5 hours of play, it get really boring to play those 4 maps over and over again

10+ months of development and 4 maps? Laughable! But we get a new HDR effect....that makes up for it right?! Very Happy They can take that HDR and shove it...tis blatantly obvious that the team was either: A. Understaffed B. Had a 30 minute a day work schedule C. Didn't give a shite.
I WAS kinda excited bout this for tomorrow...not after learning that little tidbit of info though.
Hopefully the mod/map community can fill in for Valve's "we don't give a shit, here it is now leave us alone" attitude with this title.

Everything is configured, but when it loads an online server, it freezes ;/

Why the fuck do people always latch onto one aspect of something in order to blight it completely. HDR has nothing to do with DOD itself. It's not the selling point.

The selling point is this: DAY OF DEFEAT IN THE HL2 ENGINE.

That's it. Finito.

If you don't want that, don't pay for it.

4 maps? I personally only played around 3 maps religiously on DOD. More maps doesn't mean more quality. It also doesn't mean the game is bad.

Furthmore they are going to release more maps and so is the community.

Go play the original day of defeat if you are really bothered.

LOL to all this hype. I don't think I can replace CSS with DOD:S but I wish it's enjoyable to play and durable.

Well if it's anything like the original dod, it's very durable. I've played many a night on dod a few years back. Awesome game. I think it encourages team play much more too. Seeing as you have to have more than one person to capture a flag.

It's what you like the best really, i like the WWII theme as long as it's good and i have always liked WWII over modern war/fighting.
I'm not too hyped about it, i just want to play DoD:S after wating for a year (with the source)

Hi!

I've got a problem running this one.
When I start it with hl2.exe and the switches or with launcher I get this error:

Can't find background image 'materials/console/background01.vtf'

I encountered this error with CSS too, but I somehow got over it (I can't remember).
Please help.
Thx

Thanks for this but I can't do that because I'm living in Hungary and I'm glad that I have money for hardware (well I don't cause I can't buy a combo drive). I've tried steam-down but can't run the DoD:S beta. It has got a problem with gameinfo.txt.
