and now theyre pushing the update on 12.xx users. I did briefly test it and the rendering engine is much faster then the old version. however, the mssing features make it a no go for notihng but casual browsing for me.

Uh, no they're not? Both my Mac and PC are on 12.16 now. No auto update to 15.

They won't push Opera 15 on 12.x users for quite a while, they know they're still missing too many features Smile

Why not Opera 13 but 15 if 12 is the latest "stable" version? Laughing

15 is actually stable as well, 16 is the unstable one now - 13 and 14 will be skipped permanently Razz

And 15 because Opera Mobile was at 14 already, with 15 being the Chromium/Blink build, so they decided to get the desktop and mobile version numbers in sync Smile

Yeah, it'll only be snapshots right now. 12 + 15 are stable, Next = "testing" (currently still a 15.x build, will be 16.x at some point in the near future), 16's "unstable" right now.

The only Next build I can find is 1147.100 which is older than the 130 official 15 build.

Yes, like I said, Next is still on 15.x, 16.x isn't feature-complete yet.

From one of their blog posts:
Quote:
Together with the new Opera, we've introduced release streams:
Opera (Stable) – Released every couple of weeks, this is the most solid version, ready for mission-critical daily use.
Opera Next – Updated more frequently than Stable, this is the feature-complete candidate for the Stable version. While it should be ready for daily use, you can expect some bugs there.
Opera Developer – A bleeding edge version, you can expect a lot of fancy stuff there; however, some nasty bugs might also appear from time to time.

Hmm seems they're changing where to find builds, the places where you could previously get snapshots are all empty now Razz

Opera 12 is really unoptimized for some sites.

No, it actually has a fair number of additions and fixes. Still no Link, Speed Dial shortcuts and such though Smile

getting that from the graveyard Razz

anyone else using opera? im on the edge to completely switch to vivaldi (after 15+ years of using opera)

problem: opera 40 crashes often for me, especially when putting a video tap from monitor a to the already open opera windows on monitor b. or when using mouse gestures very fast successively

I am also a long time Opera user but did not switch over when they moved to webkit. I just switched to Chrome. I had high hopes for Vivaldi but I did not like the way the windows were handled so I uninstalled. I plan on giving it another shot in a few months, sounds like they are doing a lot of work on it.

Chrome is really crap for me, i use standard opera stuff like mouse gestures nonstop. Chrome is no option for me

vivaldi evolved alot in the past months and supports the mouse gestures etc, dunno when you tried it the last time but its really awesome now. if opera isnt able to fix the crashes asap i will move my complete stuff over to vivaldo, google can suck my dick (yes yes blabla opera and vivaldi as well are partly based on chromium but its not chrome!)
