EBOOT.BIN and common.edat are encrypted with a per game key.
Sony is only delivering it on street date (server side check).
While the PS3 is pwned itself, Sony servers are still working fine
But you can take a look at the other files (which are encrypted also by Rockstar per game keys, just like GTA IV and MP 3 ).

I guess you weren't convince with what I said.
There is absolutely NO WAY to decrypt this, or to guess the key or whatever.
The key used is 16 bytes, each bytes are either A,B,C,D,E,F,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, which makes (if my maths are right), 16^16 possibilities to find the proper key.
There is no PC on earth that can bruteforce it in days (would take centuries), therefore this release is useless.

Actually, what you're referring to there is the hexadecimal (base 16 numbering) notation; which will have 32 of those, not just 16.
1 byte = 8 bits; each bit having 2 possible values. Thus 1 byte = 2^8 = 256 combinations. What you have there is 16 values; you need 2 of those to form a byte (16^1 = 16; 16^2 = 256). The number 255 is 11111111 in binary notation (8 bits, so this is a byte); in hexadecimal that becomes FF (or as you'll have seen before: 0xFF).
As for the number of options? 16 bytes means 16 * 8 = 128 bits. Puts the number of possible combinations at 2^128 = 3.4 * 10^38 (give or take) combinations. Even assuming you actually find the right combination before hitting the 50% mark of all keys, at a billion keys per second, it still takes longer than you can imagine
So yeah, fat chance of bruteforcing it

I know people are critisizing the release but surely it will make a leak far easier to achieve
someone only has to upload the eboot instead of the iso to get this to work ? an 18 gig upload compared to a 20 meg one won't put too many people off

How exactly does that make it any easier?
Someone's still gonna need to get a disc first. This is pretty much how Steam does it. The only advantage is that people with shit connections can start downloading already

Because If someone with a terrible upload connection gets hold of the disc first at say xbox360iso or some other place
it won't take them 3 days to upload the iso , you can have the revalent files in an hour
For example If i had the disc here I'd happily spend half an hour getting files and uploading it. Uploading the full iso though , well no offence but fuck that for a game of soldiers

downloading the cod map packs the other day took me close to 6 hrs on 17mb line, jessus christ it'd be quicker dusting off my old 56k modem......
god knows how long gta would take me lol

Pff I hope people still buy this game even after they pirate it. I don't buy games often but gems like this are worth the money I think. If not than soon all games will be "free" to play and total shit.

max payne 3 on external has slower loadings than internal (actually i think the initial loading are terrible, thinking the game froze).
No issue on internal though.
I think your best bet is to play GTA 5 on internal then, although I think once the game is loaded, internal or external shouldnt matter (if it's anything like max payne 3).
