Im pretty sure some sort of particle collision effects would have not hurt performance, if it already looks like that . Maybe its not on highest or something.
RII ran smoothly on something which CA said was an i5 with a single medium card, like a GTX 560 (no typo here: five sixty). There was a slight fall in FPS when zooming in but still decent, and also staff said there’s still some optimization to go. The unit size on display was 120. Very interestingly, loading times were very, very good – like 30 seconds for a battle… this was probably on an SSD, but still, much better than S2 or FOTS.

I don't think that part is anything to write home about. Still, glad to see it's at least supposedly graphically optimized. My SLI'ed 460s may still pull me through till next summer!

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I can't wait for it to be released! I'm expecting a good variety of bugs on release though I'm playing RTW atm and I've found quite a few annoying ones, even after 10 years and who knows how many updates. The game is glorious though, just like this one is looking to be.
played it at gamescom, the ship battles are as stupid as they looked, remember those guys jumping on the other ships one at a time .... guess what happens when they win the boarding fight and are on the enemy ship that just lost all its crew and you conquered, before you can use any of your now two ships, you have to wait 3 minutes to see them all jump back again to their original ship one at a time ...
and the big double tower Egypt ship, what a joke it should stood still not even trying to ram any of my ships, i think it cant ram ships that are boarding process, just sat there taking hits doing absolutely nothing .... so disappointing ...
Naval combat has always felt shitty in the TW games ever since its introduction. I've always skipped it. It's just too much of a hassle to micromanage every single ship to keep it turned/oriented properly - not very fun at all.

I couldn't care less about the naval warfare to be honest
Same here Sure it'd be a shame if they didn't manage to make a good naval combat simulation, but for all that I care I would just simulate the naval battles like it was done in RTW, as long as everything else that makes me love the first game is there
