I use the latest and no issues at all but yeah, I've heard a lot about the Firefox problem, among other minor stuff, but the artifacting thing, not so much :S

Only happens with a selection of games.. AC3 being the one that always get those issues. Temps are fine ( 65°C-ish ), but artifacts start popping here and there, mostly in menus. Same thing with Firefox basically, the mouse pointer will start artifacting ( it's barely noticeable, it's mostly around the edges ) and then freezing for short ammounts of time..
You can recover control with a ctrl+alt+suppr most of the time, but if you keep Firefox running, then the hang ups occur more and more frequently, and eventually the whole system freezes. I guess this issue is more 2d than 3d related, hence the few reports of artifacting in games. But I've seen people telling those drivers basically fried their cards, not sure how much credit you've to give them.

Pretty puzzling issue :/

Before the first mission I also noticed... not that close, just Sam got a generic face after plastic surgery I guess.

Game is really interesting, especially if you're going into it with low expectations.

This is exactly what Double Agent and Failviction wanted to be and should have been.

It's no Chaos Theory, but it'll do Sam, that'll do.

Any risks of being banned if I decrypted the game with a VPN? I seriously don't want to lose my account AGAIN just because I was impatient.

It's certainly no Chaos Theory, but the Perfectionist mode feels pretty close to it, finally a mode for old school players that is done right. And I'm able to tell as I played CT only very recently. Also, like it was already mentioned days ago, the AI is pretty good! Smile

Fuck it, I think this is pretty damn good. Even the introduction is tough on perfectionist.

The only frustrating thing is that it defaulted to 1280x720 for some reason, and it runs smooth as silk. Bumping it up to 1360x768, which isn't that much, and it stutters like a motherfucker. Oh well, not much of a difference so I'll take smooth over stuttering. Smile

Someday I'll upgrade.

Does anyone know what the steamfolder looks like?

Ex: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\ ???

Tested the iso demo, good enough for me to buy it. Don't want to download it again.

Well, if at least one thing does this game pretty well, is giving you lots of options, both in gameplay and customization. There's still several annoyances, so it's far from perfect, hopefully Ubisoft will work on them for a sequel, but the game is very satisfying.

I really don't like the mouse and keyboard controls, very clunky. I much prefer Convictions controls, the hold RMB to cover was much better IMO.

I love how Ubi mentions that in AC games you'll be able to skip Desmond parts, but they keep the most anti-Splinter Cell type shit in this

Well if you're talking about roaming the Paladin just like you could roam with Desmond around your team mates then I must say I like it a lot. Makes the game even more immersive for me. Same for cutscenes, so far they seem to be well spaced and not really intrusive.

After nearly three hours of ghosting and panthering around on perfectionist + various radars/helps disabled, I still don't know what kind of game is this. One thing is for sure, it's not Splinter Cell, at least not the old one, not anymore.

It's 30% Sam, 30% Future Soldier and 40% Ezio, a bizarre mix of genres that kinda works..but only at times. It's surely a big step forward to Cancer..err Conviction, since shadows do actually exist, you can move/dump bodies, the AI isn't braindead (although exploitable) and there are actually useful gadgets. But it's not enough.

Controlling Mr.Fisher in the 'classic way' is almost prohibitive, there's less precision and when it comes to interaction the game adjusts everything automatically, from takedowns aka 'PRESS E TO WIN' to simple actions, just like in Conviction - or any other AAA nextgen action title for that matter. The game strongly encourages the (ab)use of the quick press-space-to-cover system, with the fast-forwarded unnatural animations coming straight from a horror movie about deadly felines which surely don't help the immersion.

Then there's the happy combo cinematicness-cheesy story&characters, with tons of unnecessary visceral cutscenes and Sam that has lost all his charming humour, becoming a flat action hero...but that's another story.

However, despite everything, if you're able to tolerate all these annoyances (both gameplay and structure wise) the game can be somewhat entertaining when gives you some freedom (which doesn't happen too often, but still, *it's something*) since there are at least two different ways to reach an objective, and experimenting with the various styles - as long as you play on perfectionist with the mark 'n execute disabled- leads to curious results.

I'd say it's exactly the game that I was expecting, an improved Conviction which tries hard to be a proper stealth game but the result isn't a particularly great one despite all the admirable efforts. I'll certainly keep playing the ISOdemo through the end though, but with the awareness that ol' Sam is six feet under. Razz

Well, it's not too often that I find myself disagreeing with you ixigia, but it seems this is one of those few situations. Even when I agree with some of the problems you mention (like the awful loss of personality of Sam), or in some degree lost of "precision" as you call it, even though so far I've only seen that when trying to hide knocked-out enemies. But many others I have to completely disagree or at least disagree with the magnitude you're attributing to them. For instance:

"The game strongly encourages the (ab)use of the quick press-space-to-cover system"

Not at all. I'm not even using that "feature", same goes with wallhanging, I'm using slow-pace only for those, as not to break the immersion. And the game doesn't force you at all to use it in any situation.

"with tons of unnecessary visceral cutscenes"

What? I'm gonna need you confirm to me that you completely despised Max Payne 3 then, cause that game had at least triple the amount (I'm being conservative there) of cutscenes this one has. Like I already mentioned, I find the amount of cutscenes is minimal inside missions, and when out of them, Paladin etc. they're brief enough to fulfill their informative role in the main story, sure a couple of bad jokes from that lame Charlie character, might get a bit excessive the more the game progresses, but they still keep them quick as he instantly receives the "you're a dork" look from Grim, Sam and Briggs.

"It's 30% Sam, 30% Future Soldier and 40% Ezio"

Are you truly playing on Perfectionist? Ghost style? Come on man! Future Soldier? really? Tell me you had a very bad day, doesn't sound like you, really! Razz

And finally, so far the game, with the several annoyances it certainly has, does feel like Splinter Cell to me. And I played the trilogy only like 2 months ago! And one of those games is on my top 10 list!. This one is certainly not at its level, and you could call it an unwarranted "evolution", but it's still a pretty good game, offering a shitload of options and alternatives. Up until this week, I was very fearful this would be like Hitman Absolution all over again, but in the end turned out it's not! they found a satisfying, albeit far from perfect, balance between old school gameplay, and cater-to-the-derps gameplay, and I would be very unfair not to admit it.

Now, peace out Razz

What the fuck is a mission like this doing in a Splinter Cell game? Are You Serious

Using reloaded's version if you want to start the game up uber quick:
In the Folder:
Game Install Dir\data\Videos
Move these files somewhere else (DO NOT DELETE THEM):
Copyright.bik
Disclaimer.bik
ESRB.bik
Logo_MiddleWare_01.bik
Logo_Ubisoft_Clancy.bik
PRESS_START_BG.bik (OPTIONAL)

Then in the folder:
Game Install Dir\src\SYSTEM
use one of these executables to start the game:
Blacklist_DX11_game.exe (if you have a DX11 compatible card)
Blacklist_game.exe

Again, this is only tested by me with the Reloaded version.

I agree it is stupid, but the optional missions are split into stealth and action. Might as well ask why we're able to buy shitloads of guns in a sneaking game.
