So MS just took a punch at Sony - including Fifa 14 for free with all Xbox One pre-orders is a good move, specially in Europe where the game is epic massive. I wonder if / what Sony will do to compensate for this move?
To be honest, it seems like a strange move. Now that retailers are no longer taking pre-orders for release day on either console, will it really have that much more of an impact? Most people prepared to pre-order a console are the kind of people that want it on release day - free game or not.
I hope Sony do include a free game too, as that's which console I went for!
I don't think they will do much considering that the PS4 is still 100$ less than the XB1. If anything i can see them bundle a game + console for 419$ or something like that but i don't think they will give a free game with it unless it's one of those shitty PSN puzzle game or something like that.
And the free game iso nly for pre orders anyway. You can still get a PS4 + FIFA for less than a pre ordered XB1 with FIFA
Bundling FIFA with the Xbox One is a pretty smart tactic of MS.
They also try to win back the UK.
On another note, David Cage (Quantic Dream leader) said at the Sony story discussion panel something like
"I want to explore multiplayer-based storytelling, a new kind of social way for multiple people to shape a sophisticated story" and that thats what he's focusing on at the moment.

But the discount is only for digital versions of the 4 games..smart move towards pushing that model. Its a win-win situation.
I'm sure they did this after the absysmal pre-order numbers. There was an article recently with Hirschberg stating COD pre-orders are very low because people are undecided which version to get.
It's not just CoD though, Sony announced they'll be doing the same with their games and it's very likely other publishers will want a slice of the pie as well.
Yeah its 4 cross-gen games as of now: Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV, COD Ghosts and Watch Dogs. Are there any others? Only NFS: Rivals, which is coming Nov19 after launch and the EA sports games. And FIFA Xbox One is already free in EU, maybe Madden will be free in US. If the rumors are true and Tlou and GT6 will come for PS4, this won't be before 2014. I believe this discount is only for the next gen launch window. Same for GTA 5.
I can't remember where, but that trade-up thing is working in US/Canada too with Gamestop (maybe) where you can do the 10 for the upgrade and it works with Madden and FIFA too on top of those other ones. Seems like a good idea mostly.

But if it does mean that you can keep the PS3 version and sell it yourself while obtaining a PS4 copy for only 10$ and the only thing you need to do is provide proof that you own the PS3 copy then it's a good deal. Sell the PS3 version for full price on ebay once you get the $10 PS4 version.

yeah having to turn it back in pretty much makes this very unappealing. You pay 10$ more and give up your physical copy for a digital one. Doesn't seem like such a great deal for 10 days...

Just so you know AMD is claiming their new tech is awesome... just like intel would do. This is coming from the PR department of AMD. They hope you buy AMD instead of intel in your new PC because you heard about some awesome feature that is mega fast and blablabla PR bull. I have been fooled with the ps3 and it's 7 core cell processor that could do 2x1080p at 60fps lmao.

If you want I'll pick out some specific details and why they matter, but much smarter people (as far as this shit goes anyway ) than you or me have already worked out all of this over on Beyond3D. They get their information from the documentation provided to them by the two manufacturers, so there's very little speculation going on.
But as a quick guide: PS4 has high-bandwidth memory, 50% more shaders. See http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/777?vs=778 - the GPU configuration in the two consoles would equate to a 7780 (XB1) and 7860 (PS4) if they existed. The XB1 ESRAM's high bandwidth can't compensate for the GDDR5, because the CPU can't access the ESRAM when the GPU has data in it (simplified, but that's essentially it - from the MS documentation). Whatever latency advantage they get with DDR3 is lost whenever you want to use the ESRAM, as it nearly doubles the roundtrip to move data around. And the PS4 has more memory available for games. And the ESRAM's bandwidth in reality is still lower than GDDR5.
Overall: XB1 will either load lower quality assets or suffer pop-in (due to the low bandwidth). Both consoles are equally capable of doing post processing and MSAA as they have similarly fast mechanics to deal with that, but it's the assets where the XB1 suffers. And the PS4's got compute power to spare in comparison on top of that.
Jesus... so this generation is already getting off on the wrong foot. 720p60 is NOT progression. Oh well - I guess we can look forward to another 7-8 years of shit hardware holding back gaming

Driveclub is the least impressive title in terms of graphics for next gen imo. It might be technically good, but the game not only lacks a lot of the wow factor of Forza 5, it also looks really boring.
