While the AI is really good, it does have some stupid moments... The dogs seem very OP too, they detect you from very far away and they drag all the guards behind them as well
The forced action sequences are stupid of course.
Also you can't holster your weapon which just looks stupid (Sam KOs people with his gun holstered though)
Voice acting on Grim is really good, Briggs is awful, Sam is OK/meh.
| savov wrote: | | are the interrogations of some of the guards. Is this possible here? |
Nope, Sam interrogates different people in cutscenes and you get to decide whether or not to kill them.
| Quote: | and are there any dialogs between the guards, or are everyone just shouting "come out, Fisher!" |
Plenty of dialogues from the guards, some of them different if you restart checkpoint etc.
Also lots of dialogues during missions between Sam and Grim, quite humorous as well. |
Yes, but once they detect you, do they start shouting "I KNOW YOU ARE OUT THERE FISHER COME OUT AND I WILL SHOOT YOU!!!" moronity here?

Neon you can stop trolling us now, it's time to tell us the truth.
How enjoyable on a scale from 9 to 10 are the Fox News references? Have you seen less than 100 Baysplosions so far by any chance? Did the AI ever really spot you while running and shouting "fuck yea I'm the Feline of Freedom and I'm here to rawr your terrorist asses"?
Is it true that cutscenes are only the 60% of the game? How many full-metal-stealth Iraq-like missions are there in the game?

Neon is right though, the game is definitely a step up from conviction.
its not chaos theory, but you cant really complain, seeing how all the other franchises are going down the shitter.

I liked Conviction, but not as a Splinter Cell game. It's a fun cover shooter (which doesn't happen that often) with a pseudo-stealth flavour to it. The coop campaign was even more fun, but nowhere near close to Chaos Theory which I think is one of the most amazing co-op experiences you can have. It was the highlight of the game for me actually. I don't think I ever finished the singleplayer camapaign even though I played it a lot (the first few levels way too many times since I kept starting over, hehe), but the coop campaign I must have finished like 4-5 times, with some unfinished sessions on top of that.

I've just finished Island mission from the old-gen Double Agent on emulator. Bloody Chaos Theory 2 is what it is. Lasers, split jumps, darkness and good old friendly chats with Lambert.

| 4treyu wrote: | Yeah, I guess for all intents and purposes, Splinter Cell is a trilogy (with a shared story-arc and satisfying conclusion) and will stay like that, until maybe someone does a reboot the right way in the future (not bloody likely though ). |
Shared story-arc?
Please remind me what any of the three were about again, including the extra missions stand-alone pack for the original game. Lezbihonest here, while the three games were really good from gameplay standpoint, they were certainly quite bad and ridiculous from story standpoint, including Chaos Theory. They were up there with the worst Calancy imagination. It worked well because the gameplay lent itself to not really being dependent on the story, and the voice cast was good enough and entertaining enough to make you forget about the, well, forgettable storyline.
I am not disputing that there may have been a shared story arc. Just don't remember any of it because it was all so forgettable.

I have not played this game. I am just saying that this one might be getting flac where the original may have gotten by. All reviews so far say gameplay is great but story is lame. Well guess what, it was just like that with first three ones. Double Agent was the first where the story was somewhat exciting, and they fucked up the gameplay very much on the PC version. And so many bugs as well.

Let's use the power of a visual aide to show just how little weight that statement carries:

Even if Double Agent PC was pretty damn terrible, I think it's too harsh to collocate it near Sin's posts
