Blahblahblah. So the epic price hike will cover "over the shoulder" camera angle, some improved textures and the editor - which comes as a free DLC later. If the iOS version sells for $18 I'll be less inclined to bitch, but it won't, we know it won't. Developers really are getting shittier by the day and I would swear they're doing it on purpose just so they can blame poor sales on piracy or some bullshit €29.99 is probably a great price for the game, really it is, I'm not a "everything must be £1" douchetard like that dipshit is insinuating, but neither am I the kind of person that will sit by and watch the same game being sold at a 500% markup just "becuz higher resolushuns lol!"
I played two missions and it's alright...the load times are very fast and performance is fine on max settings. Gameplay is pretty slow and clunky, you even have to spend 1 AP just to turn your Marines in a different direction. I've never played the board game so I don't know how faithful this version is, but one thing I find kind of lame is your guys can die in one hit.
The Space Marine voices sound very much like they did in Dawn of War, even saying some of the same lines like "objective logged".
Ive tried it too. I love DOW 1 and 2, never played the tabletop.
I find the game very boring, slow and clunky. (or rather the terminators with their 10 minute turning animations)
I dislike the maps layouts, it's pretty much single square corridors, which just leaves your guys stupidly standing one behind another.
The animations are quite repeatative. The graphics are nothing impressive and the genestealers look ugly.
I like the video camera feed of the terminators
The voices are like out of DOW, a good thing actually.
It seems there is no customization, progression of any kind aside the stupid banner.
Also, yeah, that 1 hit terminator kills.. cmon, it's not like they are not wearing the toughest armor known to the imperium.. one hit really, are those guardsmen ?
so um yeah, the game turns out to be dull as expected.
Can't wait to be disappointed by the next almost indie, small budget 40k game (the turn based one from those Slitherine guys -.-)
Played too short to have any valid opinion but holy shit, those animations are so slow. It's like there are some old, weak people in those armors intead of genetically enhanced super-humans. Ridiculous.
Terminator armor is supposed to be a lot more heavier and not definitely not as maneuverable as regular power armor, but marines wearing the terminator armor have other tools at their disposal to counter the weight and bulky problem. Also, terminator armor is very tough, and the description above sounds implausible for the lore.
It is likely that the developers created a bullshit rulebase for their own game and then slapped it on the 40k franchise, exactly as expected.

Well, the Terminators actually do die in one hit in the actual board game so it's not like they made up the rules.

That may be the case also. I am more familiar and interested in the literature and video game universe than I am in the tabletop ruleset, albeit a lot of the literary canon comes from these codexes.
Also, what is the context? An orbital bombardment is capable of destroying a terminator or even a Dreadnought, but it's not what is said here.
Yes, armor that allows them to survive exposure to a nuclear reactor or shrug off a tank shell is somehow unable to stop an alien's claws that act like a hot knife through butter.
The game is supposed to be a 1:1 recreation of the boardgame. I haven't played it as yet to confirm myself, but all the things people are complaining about (slow, small linear corridors, Termies getting 1-shotted) sounds about right.
A faithful recreation always did strike me as something of an odd choice from a business perspective. I suspect people, especially those unfamiliar with the boardgame, are going to expect/want more of an action game.
Those who were expecting an action game have not watched a single gameplay video of this game. This is very much a copy of the board game and even though I haven't played the board game myself (though I would like to), I know how it works and this seems to be a nice version of the game. The animations could be a little bit faster or at least there should be an option to accelerate them. But I like it so far.
even though I haven't played the board game myself
I think I'll take Robert Florence's opinion when it comes to how "much" this is a copy of the board game since he HAS actually played it., just like I have Did you even read the review?

I have seen the board game played. Just not played it myself. I have been planning to buy it though the price is pretty high.
