Over the past six months or so we've heard plenty of speculation about possible new additions to the line-up of action icons for The Expendables 3, most of which has came directly from Sylvester Stallone's Twitter account.
On several occasions, Sly has seemingly jumped the gun with his casting announcements, particularly concerning martial arts legend Jackie Chan and former Blade star Wesley Snipes, both of whom are yet to officially sign on to the film. However, Lionsgate CEO Jon Felheimer has now confirmed that the studio is in "advanced negotiations" with both Chan and Snipes, in addition to Nicolas Cage (who was part of producer Avi Lerner's initial wish-list alongside Snipes, Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford) and Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether any of these will actually sign on the dotted line, or if it's just another case of name dropping in an effort to drum up interest for the Patrick Hughes-directed threequel.
Sylvester Stallone has announced that he's found a director to take over the reigns from Simon West on the third instalment in the aging action icon franchise The Expendables, and no - it's not Mel Gibson. Instead, Stallone has revealed via Twitter that he's turned to up-and-coming Australian filmmaker Patrick Hughes - director of the rather fantastic Aussie Western Red Hill - and while The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting that producers Millennium are yet to sign off on Hughes, a deal is expected to be confirmed.
The Expendables 3 is expected to reunite much of the cast from the previous two movies, including the likes of Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Jet Li. Jackie Chan and Wesley Snipes have both been reported as joining in the action for the third movie, while producer Avi Lerner has said his wish-list includes Nicolas Cage and the rather more ambitious Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood.
Now that Sly has found his director for The Expendables 3 who would you like to see joining the cast?
Great! I love these movies, I don't care how corny.
I doubt Segull would take it, he doesn't really do anything anymore except gain weight. I knew he wouldn't be in the 2nd one just because Vandam was in it, and Steve hates him.
I would like to see Michael Jai White and Wesley Snipes added in. Michael White is actually a pretty amusing to watch, I like Blood and Bone

Bruce Willis leaves because he is "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE" (Stallone's words, not mine) but Harrison Ford joins the cast.

Shame that Willis doesn't care in all this movies he stars recently. Yes, he is fun to watch but he just looks like he is bored and tired. The epitomy of this was last Die Hard. Not to mention he gets the same role in every recent movie.

In an interview with the Spanish magazine XLS, the 58-year-old was asked for his opinion on action movies and allegedly replied: "Explosions are one of the most boring parts of my job. When you have seen a few fireballs, it's not exciting anymore. I know part of my audience enjoys the explosions, but to be honest, I’m a bit bored of it now.
"I am very clear with who I am. I work in all sorts of films, but the action movies are the ones that generate the most revenue. I like to earn lots of money from those, but I do all types: small productions, megaprojects, medium sized, even science fiction."
Willis did however add that he was not "someone who spends the whole day counting bank notes", nor did he "dance for joy" when he received payment for his films.
