I'm totally getting my ass kicked by this game... ^_^
I think I've died about 25-30 times so far, running around with the starting weapon is ass.

I don't know the complete differences but The Zone you start off on an open road with quite a lot of supplies, a uzi and a pistol.
The Black Road you start in a completely dark house with only a knife.

Basically I want the game to physically rape my body so that I forgot I was even born. That would be the ultimate STALKER. |
this pretty much would be the cure to derpiness and would improve 90% of games.

I couldn't agree more with you, even in Misery v1.0 you could become a "bad ass" very early in the game, which obviously ruined part of the atmosphere and tension that a Stalker game should have.
Though I was reading the features list from this v2.0 and noticed:
• Fewer weapons in good condition and less ammo. No more “killing zombies to easily find loads of weapons and ammo”.
• No valuable gifts in your stash after completing quests like “A Friend of Stalkers” or “Mutant Hunter”.
• Advanced game progression ensures a challenging gameplay from beginning to end of the game.
On the other hand, there seem to be even more stashes and bonuses than before, which nullifies most of the efforts to keep it balanced for rape..assuming that they're in easily reachable areas. Oh well, we'll see. I'm installing the beast

That's what I'm hoping this changes
In a perfect STALKER I would have all firearm 'finds' as weapons in shitty condition, much less ammo, keep it as lethal but don't let enemies have so much on them either, especially ammo. IMO you should have to find valuable things to buy expensive weapons. Weapons should be a huge commodity in the Zone. Valuable things should be in the hardest locations, instead of M16s/G36/AKs etc everywhere.
The 'rise' to being powerful would be so much better if it were stretched over the entire course of the game. There's too much to make you too powerful in the first map alone.

So I'm not really seeing anything on the site to why this mod is such a big deal. Anyone wanna give me a quick right up of it?
I haven't really played through it because vanilla STALKER has always been pretty bad.

One hour in and I already died 8 times, I like it
Leaping into the Space Anomaly for example is impossible at the beginning (Recon), since you need proper equipment or the flames will literally destroy you after a couple of seconds. Every single time (unless I'm doing it wrong, but it was a walk in the park in the vanilla game ).
Same for the second Stingray, the anomaly there always kills you even if you take the anti-psy pills. Plus there are several angry (armed!) zombies there -unlike CoP standard- which make the whole area damn hard.
I guess I'll just head to the main HQ in the middle of the map, hoping to find a better atmosphere. So far my journey was a complete failure.

Yeah, after reloading that part about 10 times I just said "fuck it" and ran a completely different way and jumped in, worked like a charm. -.-

Argh damn it, will try a different route then, thanks Preffy. If the first mission already has a bug, I don't want to think what could happen later on o.O

Have you tried DX9 or DX10? from what I've read some people got that issue with DX11 but I haven't found out much else so far.

Yeah, should be something else. I'm playing here with DX11 enabled and no blur.

Just for the record - DX10 is more stable in CoP than DX11 which is very poorly implemented. The visual difference is not that significant to bother with DX11 in this game.
