Five hours later, I emerge, blinking and groggy.. time for a shower and then bed, neh? This is friggin' awesome, very basic but shining due to the magnificent atmosphere and the engrossing writing Smile I cannot wait to see what the homebrew community can wring out of this editor - the earlier beta of "A Lost Lamb", the first released UCG, already showed off significant promise and it held a lot more interaction than what I've seen in the official campaign.

Yeap, I'm enjoying the atmospheric and remarkably written campaign and that's just the tip of the iceberg Smile Knowing that the best is yet to come after finishing it is what makes me happy for deciding to keep my pre-order about 1 month ago when I told you I was worried. I sense many, many hours of fun gameplay coming in the near future Very Happy

Is it possible to change your characters look after you initially pick the hair, skin tone, etc at some point in the game or are you stuck with those choices?

You can buy different clothes and armor, but other than that no.

I am sure Wasteland 2 will be just gorgeous in every aspect. Its gonna be hundred times better than this game. I am not saying its bad game but.. For this budged they could do better. Way better.

Never really played shadowrun before and tried out now. The game is fun for what it's supposed to be. A bit lacking on actual gameplay though. It's been a chatting simulator this far. I don't mind brilliant stories and dialogue in games, I'm an RPG fan afterall, but i do expect some actual gameplay once in a blue moon as well.

Pros

Game is very pretty
Writing is ok to decent
Atmosphere is quite strong
I like the UI

Cons

Combat is simplistic (but functional)
Exploration is non-existent (HUGE minus)
Checkpoint saves are too far apart
Ultra-linear structure
Seemingly too short
No interactivity with the environment

Oh well.

After playing about an hour or two, I'm not impressed at all.

I actually bought it - but I'm not sure I'll get through it.

At this point, it's a 6/10.

The first arc of the plot was painfully predictable. Other than that, the game is fine. I'd say the money was well spent. A bit more depth to the RPG mechanics would be nice. As it is too bad they went with hired men instead of story driven companions. It would be nice to have a few friends tagging along, and kind of form your own team.

All of the codes give you four Doc Wagon Platinum Trauma Kit (one in inventory, three in stash), and an extra NPC in the Seamstress. The codes past the first one start you off with a custom character made for the backer it is for.

You will need to start a new game for the kits since they are awarded in the Morgue, but the NPC will show up whenever you hit the Seamstress.

Ok, something weird happened. I had a rifle which i selected from that guy in the freezer, but when i reached the royale hotel it was suddenly gone. Have no clue what happened to it. Nothing in the inventory.

You can find it in the stash. The same shit happened to me. When you have too many items in your inventory, some of them will be automatically moved to your stash. Sucks that it's the weapon and that there's no notificaiton about it.

As for the game itself, having played ca. 4 hours last night, I pretty much agree with what Casus wrote above. I should add that the lack of looting corpses is unacceptable and with the budget they had, there should be at least some voiceovers. Then again, the devs couldn't have purchased Porsches if they had spent all the money on the game...

They didn't pay for the game, necessarily, but to show their support for this KIND of game.

But I don't think the game is all that good, so I'm kinda glad I didn't back it.

I'm very happy with it - barely played the game, but I paid £10/$15 for it, and from what I've seen, the editor alone is worth it.

Finished the main campaign, I am very satisfied with it.

It most definitely has its flaws, but I am certainly looking forward to the Berlin-campaign.

Props for allowing you to import characters as well. I'm going to play through some of the fan-made content now.

So is there a new game + or anything like that to replay the campaign with all your ending stats, abilities, items. etc?

Huh? The game is designed so you can run different campaigns (the one created by the devs is around 13hrs long). Whenever you start a campaign you get the option to create a new character or import an old one. When you import one it keeps all your stats you "left" with (I have all the stats from when I finished the official campaign in the user made mission).

Yeah I had that a lot when I was messing around with the game earlier today. I only played maybe 10 minutes or so and had the sounds crackle and cutout at least 3 or 4 times by the time I got to the first autosave after fighting a bit.

Try disabling audio enhancements in Windows, that fucks everything up usually.

I guess I am wondering if it's possible to max out a character in one play though then. That's why I wondered about the new game + for the official campaign as the length would hopefully give you the chance if you wanted to spend the time to max out a character if it's not possible in a single play through.

No, you can't "Max out" a character playing one campaign. I was pretty focused on melee with my troll, and the highest stats I have at endgame are at 9.

i had a bunch of issues with it when i tried last night.
music and sound has awkward millisecond pauses and the windowing is awkward as hell
alt+tab tends to freeze everything
cannot access steam inside the game eventhough the popups appear

I tried starting the game forced to 1 cpu core and audio seemed to function fine after that
i don't know if that was the fix or if it was just a coincidence
resource loading is still laggy as hell.. opening inventory, viewing character models wherever

Well I'm happy to say that I haven't had a single issue with the game so far, everything seems to work as intended and I'm about 5 hours in and really enjoying it, which I am extremely grateful about since I was expecting the worst. The base campaign is very "lite", it's more about the story and atmosphere than anything else, it will all come down to modders and their custom content and Runs, just as I feared, but that's okay.. I guess... just as long as some great content does come out for it. I'm VERY glad it's selling well on Steam at least, that will show HBS that it's a commercial success as well as a Kickstarter one so hopefully they come thick and fast with new content.

I played abit and i like it, the atmosphere is great.. the checkpoint system on the other hand sucks.

I started as a rigger, but i wonder if i should restart and go a no class to better customize, because the rigger has some melee and strength that i don't plan on using

If we restart game with a new character, what happens to our savegames? Are they going to be overwritten by new checkpoints??
Because I'm also thinking about restarting with a custom character..
