bitComposer have today announced Citadels a new RTS game that aims to fans of historic strategy games as it is set in a medieval world full of myths and legends.
Developed by the Bratislava-based studio Games Distillery, Citadels will allow players to experience the Legend of King Arthur in two campaigns; one fighting on the side of Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and the other on the side of Morgana and Mordred. The player has the opportunity to construct mighty fortresses and defend them with traps and troops while making sure that production continues and resources keep flowing in. The right balance between economics and fighting is decisive to the outcome of every battle.
Citadels will feature between several additional game modes, including a sandbox mode and competitive or cooperative multiplayer modes for up to four players.
Citadels will be released worldwide for Windows-PC in the first half of 2013.
Basically they are showing a game from 1998, but the way the narrator is dubbing that dude is like they have revolutionized strategy gaming by having workers build huts.
I fully expect this to be a bug ridden game or just lack serious polish in general, so I'm not even going to bother. Looks nice though, hope they will patch it in the near future.
Me too, but I hope it's not all military based missions. That was one good thing about the Styronghold games, you could choose an economic path. £26.99 on Steam
Nice. As long as it's miles better than the uber-disappointing Stronghold 3, I'm game.
Now that it's massively patched, SH3 isn't as bad as it was at launch.
Personally it wasn't bugs or glitches that made me hate the game.
But gameplay.
Seriously Stronghold should be about building attacking/defending and managing.
Not this point and click adventure shit.
I uninstalled this game after 10 minutes, so I don't know how turn the gameplay later.
Does it play like Stronghold 1 in anyway ?
It was the bugs that really made this game suck when it was released (Units were unresponsive, trying to select and attack things was inaccurate, and AI was miserable, to the point that they would stand still and be eaten by wolves unless I specifically told them to fight.)
As far as the gameplay, it closely resembles Stronghold 1 (the economic and military campaigns) than any other in the series.
Just started this, but so far it's pretty crap sadly.
That marker border when you want to select several units shows up delayed. Wtf is the idea behind that. Can't even quickly select units.
Wall building sucks. First you don't see before placing a wall if you can build there. Then you can't use environments as a "wall". Because they need a minimum distance from obstacles. Means you can just run by the walls wtf?
And the voice volume of the units is so low, don't even understand what the damn gaylords are saying
So far 3-4/10. probably won't go higher as i will probably destroy the iso after first mission man
REALLY SAD MAN BECAUSE I THOUGHT THERE WOULD FINALLY BE A OKAYISH RTS WITH BASEBUILDING!!
Graphics and Gameplay wise Age of Empires 3 > this
And can't seem to rebind keys. So means scrolling only with cursor keys wtf. I always use WASD ;(
