Nothing is better than that, but CiV is pretty good now, too. Wink

Note this is bare release with no additional DLC content present. Just original game and BNW, nothing else like DLC civs or GoK exclusive contents (civs, scenarios).

It's now pretty close to Civ4's balance and addictiveness, for me. I skipped "Gods & Kings" and it's a pretty large leap from vanilla CiV to CiV+BNW. Big improvement IMO. It still feels a bit shallow at times (but so did even Civ 4+BTS+Rise of Mankind) but I'm sure we'll see more and more in the future

Enjoy, it's a fantastic fleshed out game in its current state.

I got the Civ 5 Gold Edition upgrade in steam sales for £5 which added all the DLC and the Gods and Kings expansion.

I will get the Brave New World expansion later on when the price has gone down.

Sounds to be a more complete game now when both expansions are added.

Yup! Don't forget to grab Ali213 crackfix v3.

Alternative releases: RG Revenants, RG Mehcanics, RG Origins, RG Catalyst. RG Revenants needs the crackfix, the other three repacks have that included.

RLD's is just a standalone version of Brave New World, or it contains the full Civ 5 game + Brave New World + maybe God & Kings addon.

thanks for info , dont forget some of us have limited BW : )

just a standalone version of BNW. No DLC's or scenarios nor G&K's, though I just read that BNW has the core elements of G&K's ? Anyone can confirm? More curious than anything. Confused

Welcome back to Civilization Twisted Evil

So, how are you liking BNW?

I am off the weekend.
I didn't have the time to finish my game yet (around turn 420).

But I really enjoyed what I saw, especially trading routes and world council.
Also AI seems more rational and way less arrogant or wanting to fight every 10 turns like before. I have some tension with my lovely Celtic neighbor but nothing bad.

I tried the culture way, I already have influence over Persian but I realized I will never be able to win over Moroccos culture.
I have all city states in my pocket so I will try to switch for a diplomatic victory.

So far so good.

I grabbed Sid.Meiers.Civilization.V.Brave.New.World-RELOADED (for the scene crack mainly) and here what I found out. Sid.Meiers.Civilization.V.Brave.New.World-RELOADED release includes only the content for the following:
    1. Sid Meier's Civilization V (non-gold edition, Steam package id 6146).
    2. Civ and Scenario Pack - Mongols, Genghis Khan DLC (not available for purchase separately, included in the package 6146).
    3. Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World DLC (Steam package id 235580).

No files are missing or are unreferenced (for the above packages) and crack is configured for the above content only.

RELOADED's crack works fine with all the rest of available game DLCs if the steam_api.ini is configured to additionally include:
Code:
DLC003=16870
DLC004=16868
DLC005=16860
DLC006=16861
DLC007=16862
DLC008=16863
DLC009=16867
DLC010=99610
DLC011=99611
DLC012=16866
DLC013=99612
DLC014=99613

Of course, you will have to acquire required DLC game files from one of many Chinese or other releases.

And also it seems like BNW includes all new game mechanics from G&K (such as Espionage, Faith, etc) and also units, buildings and wonders but if you have only BNW and don't have G&K you will miss on all civilizations and scenarios introduced in G&K.

Nope. The new trade system will give you more gold than before, so the game gets a bit easier when you know what you're doing. My advice is to play one level above what you usually play.

I think it has, the AI handles battles much better than what I saw with GK.

I just had this game going where Mongolia had borders up to my nice Indonesian lands, they had a bigger army than me, so I kept paying them to wage war on our 2 other nabours.
But at one time they had peace with both nabours, so they quickly turned towards me and sure enough suddenly they where matching north and war was decleared.
I had to rush buy some swordsmen, to make sure my units wouldnt all die defending the city.
When I had killed them all, I turned the table as always, but for the life of me I couldnt take their capital (ok maybe I could by suiciding most of my ultra upgraded/skilled army).

And this was only on King level. Granted I didnt want the war that came, but I was fully prepared. In the earlier CIV V games on Immortal level they would come one by one and I would be hard pressed to lose a unit while defending.

Btw: Are people playing this MP now (with pitboss etc) and is it fun?

They did trim insane happiness bonuses that AI had before, which does affect AIs in a way that they don't expand as much as before.

You can get on map places that are not settled up.

Personally I'm torn on this.
On one side, it was fun before to get runway AI with whole continent for himself. But on the other hand, it was frustrating to know that is impossible for player to replicate such kind of empire in any way, and that it was available to the AI only due to happiness bonuses.

Ok, hate me maybe, but I haven't played Civ 5 yet. I just got it from the Nuuvem deal, and also the Gods and Kings upgrade. Is it worth to get Brave new World at this point, as it is currently on Sale on Steam for 7,50 €?
I haven't played a Civ game in a loooong time, so should I get every addon right now or should I just start with the "normal" game?

I would definitely buy every add-on before playing. So much changes between base and G&K and BNW, that it becomes a different game. And having to re-learn how the different buildings and patches affect gameplay between them all is really annoying. Smile
