So I was driving my bike, making my route, going back home, when suddenly, before the last crossing, where I go to my neighborhood, and the cops were at the bus station.
At first I thought, something is going on. But when I got near, the pulled me over, took my ID and gave me a warning for driving on a walkway -.-"
Apparently I should drive on the road, next to idiots who drive way more than 60 km/h (the limit). I said that I don't want to risk my life driving there, since I know how ppl are driving. And no body is watching that, they have to annoy ppl on bikes for driving on walkway, and there were no ppl walking there!!! I'm not endangering anyone!! -.-"

It pisses me off, they have nothing better to do than stop cyclist -.- And there are tons of idiots on the road driving like maniacs, and where are they? Nowhere!!

Yeah same here. I was driving bike on the side of the road since ever but More than couple of times some fucking asshole in his huge truck came so near me that I fell of my bike.
Now I am mostly driving on sidewalks. asshole. I also have driver license and I never understood a cocky behaviour of some drivers.

I'm gonna go the other way with this.
I walk everywhere, and I get really pissed off with cyclist's on footpaths, as far as I am concerned you should use the road, I used to when I cycled years ago. I have kids, I walk everywhere and (it seems) a majority of cyclists are a danger on the pavements, atleast a couple of times a month I have close calls with people on bikes flying around blind corners or just not paying attention in general (I am not saying YOU are, just in the area I live in)
But I still think a warning is harsh, they could have just said 'use the road' thats all they used to do over here to kids,they dont seem to bother any more.

i ride a bike sometimes in the weekend, i use the roads, but i dont think cops will do anything if a went sidewalk.
but well, im na adult, how old are you? 15?
sometimes cops like to pick on kids.

I was doing 50 km/h on a slope and on a road  
@madmax17 There was one near Črnomerec too, they have some kind of 'safety control' -.-" Oh and it was on Branimirova, from Borogaj 2 km down towards Sesvete.
Now I'll use some obscure little streets, until I get to marked trails for bikes.
Also why don't they do the same for ppl who walk all over the marked trails for bikes?? I had to avoid several idiots who were on those, and there is clear yellow line, and sometimes they are red...

Cycle paths with a line are great idea, but walkers (and cyclists) are both guilty of not keeping to their side here.
We have a couple, but could use more.

And yeah, we have dedicated biker lanes everywhere here. In the city its of course a lane on the street itself, but country side, they're usually like in the pic above.

A guy was riding his bike on the sidewalk here and got pulled over by cops. He was fined 50 euros. It is kind of stupid though, cause bicycle lanes are not present everywhere, and driving on the road is dangerous to cyclists and slows down the traffic.

There's really not much to talk about here. You either ride by the side of the road and risk injury or death, or you ride on the pavement and endanger walkers, given you're careless.

Here in Madison there's a special lane on all the roads for bikes. Pretty good size too, can ride side by side and still not worry about cats. Areas where cars drive faster has underground passsges and paths.

You are not supposed to drive around on the sidewalk in Finland but no one here really gives a shit about it.
I don't think I have seen a single guy driving on the roads over several years.

Bicyclists are the scourge of this city. They demand more and more dedicated bike lanes (for the 5 usable months in canada) yet do not obey ANY laws... Stop signs red lights or anything... Driving between cars, beside em near the curb, passing on the right of a car that's turning right.....They cause so many accidents and near accidents. .But God forbid u cut em off or get close... They will kick ur car, scratch it, go nuts on u...

Also u don't know why they were targeting bikers. Maybe members of the public were complaining about people biking on the sidewalk. Or maybe someone was injured there recently. Or annual or once a while blitz. Lol posts like these makes u never wanna give warnings, cause if they are gonna get upset, annoyed and complain anyway (even though u only gave em a friendly warning) then u might as well make it a ticket.

Don't feel bad. Two years ago, in Poland, I almost got 50zl ticket for crossing a street.
It was really stupid, there is not any crosswalk in 500m-1km direction. It was a road from a small lake so as you walk out of it, there is no sidewalk on that side as you walk out and have to cross road to get to sidewalk.
It sucks to walk there because there is also a turn and you can easily get hit by a car if you are not aware.
tl;dr, got a warning because I crossed a road to walk on the sidewalk instead of walking on the road and get hit by a car maybe.
FUCK DA POLICE, I SAY.

hah reminds me of highschool... this douchebag kid was speeding in front of our school (school zones are 40kph) probably was going 80 or so.... SMOKES a kid right infront of the school... kid's head was stuck in his windshield. dead on the spot. zero charges since kid was jay walking and was technically in the wrong. I think he just got a reckless driving ticket which back then wasnt THAT harsh.... he was playing basketball the very next day...
