Heh you know what? To my surprise that actually worked! I always thought the binkw32.dll files are custom-built for each game but I tried the one from Alan Wake American Nightmare (which has the same size) and I got sound now!
I'm having trouble passing a part in Act II, part 8. It's right after you get the axe for the second time. No matter what I do, the chopper always kills me, I even tried to look at a walkthrough, and in those it seems the chopper can't kill you when you're in cover.
But that doesn't happen with me. No matter where I stand or crouch the chopper kills me.
And I can't run through because I keep bumping into zombies.

I gave in and finished this on this fucked up monitor, black bars included. This being a side-scrolling game, it wasn't such a big problem, but still... Anyway, the game was absolutely amazing. The soundtrack, the atmosphere, the graphics! Everything was amazing! I found the platforming part frustrating in some parts due to what I saw as slightly clunky controls. Other than that I didn't have any problems with the game. Loved the characters, especially the protagonist! And that diary made him an even more awesome character... really nicely written! I see this as a blend of Limbo and Alan Wake, but it has more to it than those 2, which makes it much less repetitive (although Limbo was so short that the repetitive nature wasn't a problem). I hope they do a sequel. They have such a big opportunity with the way this ended. They could make Stella the protagonist in the second game!
- A bug in the “Nightmare” mode has been fixed; previously if Randall died after rescue Stella the game starts at the beginning of the Act 1. Now the game should continue at the beginning of Act 3 as expected.
- The problem related to the audio in the cutscenes has been fixed.
twas about time..!

just played and finished this... i actually really enjoyed it. i love puzzle sidescrollers like this, and thought visually it was spectacular. i have no idea why it was getting such low ratings from review sites, because i enjoyed it. it was short and sweet and an enjoyable ride. only thing i guess i can hold against it is that theres very little replayability, but meh... in a year ill have forgotten most of it, and ill be happy to play it again. great atmosphere, fun game...
I beat this one not too long ago as well. It was fun, but I found myself more frustrated throughout the game because of some parts, especially the section where
Spoiler:
you are trying to outrun that fucking helicopter and have to climb fences jump over obstacles..... gawd! I must have died at least 20 times
Either way it was fun for the most part, I think it's good it was a short as it was, any longer and I probably would have said fuck it.

This is why I don't fucking buy games on a whim anymore. Can't even get the fucking game to run. Soemthing about it failing to create a D3D9 device and desktop is locked?
It can happen? It surely can because I've never seen any other game fucking do this.
Ya I got it, apparently I have to add some windows command to the launch settings to make the game run, and it doesn't even start up windowed which is funny, and within the first 5 minutes of playing this I've seen like 3 bugs already. Fucking useless devs.

Deadlight rises once more, spreading its deadliest infection yet to PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC. With improved graphics and a host of new content, Deadlight: Directors cut will deliver the definitive Deadlight experience when it launches on 21st June 2016.
I got all excited at first.. but... "Director's Cut" with new animations and an arena mode? Egh, not really what I'd think 3 years work would be worth. What about new areas? New stories? A full sequel?
It's just a quick sideproject to help cover the expenses of buying the Rime IP. More like 3 months of work instead of 3 years

The updated version is up on Steam now, only a small release-day discount as apparently it's using a different publisher now and going by the description there's not too much new content though something on how the game now runs in 1080p and there's improvements to animations and controls plus some arena mode.

I own the base game, but the DC still costs nearly as much as the non-discounted base game.
Fuck that. Not paying ~6.5€ for that upgrade.
