Looks beautiful, but soft shadows + soft particles = kiss your fps rate goodbye Razz

That's a big negative, especially considering they're saying to run the nexgen engines no current card, even in SLI will come close to maxing it. I'll save my pennies for the next generation of video cards.

This engine...just wow. Might even surpass the unreal 3 engine.

If you remember farcry trailers before the game was released they looked even more impressive than this video. Nothing here that we cant see in farcry with everything on max (except maybe cool shadows. I'll switch them off anyway to improve speed hehe)

In every other game, your character walks right through bushes etc, but not here:P
a small addition, but still.

And isnt 7800GTX a DX9 card ? So its worthless Smile

Incredible stuff. I've never seen anything like it, not in any video/demonstration.
These germans at Crytek are incredible, they really rock Smile

If anyone has some more information about this please post, such as when this is supposed to take the form of a game or anything....are we talking 2006 or 2007 or even 2008???

This was really something, compared to the boring nextgen UT-demonstrations we've seen...I never got really impressed with those.

Check out the new Metal Gear Solid 4 videos. There is a thread in the console-arena about it.
http://www.konami.jp/gs/kojima_pro/movie/tgs2005_mgs4.asx

It's supposed to be in-game and if is.. then damn..

I'll quote myself from that thread:

javlar wrote:
That is just silly. If that is in fact what the game will look like then next gen consoles will offer alot it seems Smile

I'm not expecting this to be true just cause it looks too good. I'd rather be happily surprised to find out im wrong than to be expecting perfection and be let down.

Errr. Did you play HL2 or other shooters where you can hit stuff with your arms/legs or simply touch it with your body and it moves like in real life? Did you see POP where you can touch the curtain and it waves? Its called physics, and its in every decent game now Smile
Even arcades for kiddies like "The Hobbit" have plants that move when you run thru them. First CryEngine already can do things shown in this video. Now you can move boxes, trash AND plants. How exciting....

looks awesome. A logic evolution of cryengine 1 though, which is imho still the best engine available at the moment. Nice to see they're putting in even more physics. from what it looks like, the whole environment is going to physically interactive now, including buidings. Levels look even bigger than in far cy, and the view distance is of course incredible as always!

I really liked the plant physiscs and destructible enviroments Smile

Destructible enviroments is really what the new FPS games need to make them more fun, but i'd be happy if they brought in NPC schedules and realtime day / night cycles too to make the games even more immersive.. destroying and throwing stuff around is great fun, i'm having a blast playing Hulk Ultimate Destruction on NGC.

Too bad the quality of the video was shit, cant really judge if it looks better than FC.

Play the goddamn Farcry its same on max , and its engine can do even more Smile
OMG!!! That plant moved i cant believe it i must be dreaming!!!

Of course second engine will be better than first! It must be better because its new. But there's nothing in this video we didnt see in other games before anyway Razz
Shadows are nice. I can admit it.

I've never seen any game as advanced and good looking as the original Far Cry.
This seems like a huge upgrade, both with physics and probably graphics too (shadows/light/models etc).
What I definitly haven't seen in any other game (including Far Cry) is how extremely realistic the plant moved when interacted with, and most of all the incredible destruction of that building. That really is breathtaking, and shows us how extremely advanced the physics is Smile

Since you apparently dont like Far Cry type of games, why are you spending so much time in this thread? Like if I would post crap all days long in every game-thread that I dont like Very Happy
Doom3/HL2-threads would be full of sarcasm from my side if that were the case Wink

Who said i dont like Farcry? You have a good imagination. Read my last post. I said farcry ALREADY can do this amazing stuff shown in video if settings are on max. In new engine there are few improvements here and there, as it should be. But nothing special. Except maybe shadows

Ok, sorry, but maybe you should play some more Far Cry then cause it cant do any of those things even on highest setting.
No realtime day/night cycles.
No bushes moving like that when interacting with them.
For sure no such physics with the building, really for sure nothing even close in the original.
Shadows...
The models on the faces, big upgrade too (even if we dont see them move).

Well, I'd like to know how to tweak Far Cry to implement those things, cause it must be really cool to play it like that Wink

It's not my fault that many of you so easily get impressed with simple things. I've seen it before. You should play more games. Rolling Eyes

You're talking shit, obviously you have no idea.

The whole thing looks way better the Farcry, the only reason why it's not as obvious as it should be is because of the low quality of the video. The foliage looks amazing.
