Hey, thanks for the clarification regarding the 60fps mod; I was indeed misinformed then. I only saw some gameplay videos on youtube, and based on those, it seemed broken. I'm glad it's fixed by now, though.
I've also read about some sortof mouse fix that supposedly helps with camera controls. Is that necessary as well?
And one more question: I'd rather turn off the UI completely, but is it wise to do so on the first playthrough?
Oh, and is the game update available for the yarr version too?
turn off ui? wtf, you wont make any progress if its your 1st playthrough, forget about that.
also just forget about mouse fix, if you seriously wanna play DS get any gamepad, even simple cheap one. IT MAKES HUUUGE DIFFERENCE.

well i guess if havent ever held a gamepad then you might "fail miserably", but if you didnt ever had a gamepad in your hands i wonder where have you been growing up in times of nes/snes/psx etc
using keyboard and mouse in this game, even with the mouse fix, is plain horrible
not because this game wouldn't be a great game to be played with keyboard and mouse
its the fact that real mouse and keyboard controls aren't even implemented
when you move your mouse in this game, with the fix or not, it emulates the left analog stick of the xbox controller instead of being a direct input kind of style
so it translates the mouse movement to gamepad movements, with all its limitations and settings
and that feels sluggish and simply shitty as hell
its worse than the mouse-emulation for the pc version of resident evil 4
i hope dark souls 2 gets real mouse controls but either way playing this game with gamepad has always been fine, so i could deal with playing using my gamepad again.

Actually I went through sens fortress on the first try, until I suddenly faced the Iron golem, which I fought against quite well, but to replenish my stamina I rolled back at the wrong moment and into the dephts. As I hadn't discovered the bonfire at that point I had to start at undead parish again Well still, it was quite easy
I think the only area I skipped in sens fortress is where those titanite demons are under you but I don't even know how to reach that point. So far I'm in anor londo, killing sentinel bitches left and right (Can't traverese through the golden fog though!)

I have the PS3 fat 60Gb and I never had any problems, all me other friends report problems, some have had it sent in 2 times.
mine went strong for 5 years without any problems, then from one month to the next it started freezing more and more till it got the ylod. sadly it was among the 10% of cases that cannot be fixed, anyway i sold it to a sucker on ebay luckily for a bit over 100 euro, he though he could fix it, and then got a 3.55 slim for 250 euro.
i also wondered about all the people having fat problems, till it suddenly happened to me too. you have to consider that the likelyhood of a fat getting a ylod is getting higher every day, since theyre not in production anymore for quite a few years.
