I'm going to be away for a week while wifey and I cat/house-sit for her aunt, I'm taking my 360 with me and was burning off some discs but I came to an impasse; I'm re-burning Lost Odyssey since my old discs aren't functional on LT3.0 and I only have THREE blank discs left -- so the decision is, do I burn 3 of 4 discs for LO or burn the first 2 discs and also burn off disc 1 of Forza 4? I could *possibly* do without the 2nd F4 disc since it's just extra cars and tracks, but if I burnt 3 discs for LO it would be that much more LO goodness before I'm forced to stop.

Decisions, decisions.

~edit~

Ah fuck it, I'll just burn disc 3 of LO.

Hmm... never played LO. Now that I'm back home, there's still no new interesting release in sight. I've resumed Drakensang TDE (on PC), witch I remembered I never finished, but that won't last me too long. Sad

I've heard a lot of good things about LO, but the notion that it's a 4 disc game sounds like it's a hella long JRPG (and JRPGs are by default really long and grindey) witch put me off. But it's summer and the last time I played a JRPG it was during summer so there's no better time.

So how long is it and how much of the dark side of JRPG is in it? How's the combat system?

Infinity Undiscovery and Tales of Vesperia are my favorite JRPGs, mostly because they don't play like average JRPGs.

@cobALT

LO is long, very long, you'll get a good 40 hours out of it easy and the game itself is excellent with a fantastic plot and gorgeous visuals/sound. Very impressive game but also very jRPG, it's a Final Fantasy game in all but name Wink

Just burn LO ffs

bollocks to this car racing shit, FFXI (it really is) is always worth replaying.

Now Mistwalker pull out your finger and give us a sequal

EDIT //

This shouldn't even have been a question really. Arguably the best jRPG this generation or a racing game (albeit a good one).

Are You Serious

Aye, I burnt off disc 3 last night. It's a fantastic game and I want as much of it as possible Very Happy Just pissed that my old discs don't work Sad Nonetheless, you HAVE to try it cobALT, Saner isn't exaggerating when he says it's the best jRPG this generation - it shits on FFXIII and most any other jRPG, so far I'd say the closest anything has come to dethroning LO would be Xenoblade Chronicles.

Saner wrote:

YES! This is by far more of an FF game than anything that has come since FFX.

Yes, Tales of Vesperia if you have not played it.
There's also Resonance of Fate witch at it's core has a TB system, but it plays more real time; think what KOTOR/DA is to wetern RPGs, and that's how RoF feels to JRPGs.

Dang it. It looks really good and I do remember hearing a lot of good things about the overall presentation and the story. But the gameplay style coupled with my obsessive-compulsive behavior of playing games, I'll easily double those 40 hrs, and right now I just don't know if I can have that. Sad

Never thought I'd see the day when I'd be discouraged to play a game based on it's length. Neutral

Aye, I tried it but it never really got into it, not like I did with Demon's Souls at leat. It was damned fun though, but with my blood pressure lately it wasn't exactly conducive to a stress less experience. Speaking of stress, guess what? 360 is dying and is likely about to die any second, was playing ZOE HD and it kept freezing and making rapid beeping sounds. Eventually it just froze completely, when I rebooted the dashboard was laggy and the same rapid-fire beeping happened.

Shit sucks, no? Oh we'll, par for the course lately because I really am fucking cursed.

@hfric

Are you nuts? I've got all those games! I'm glad to see another Blue Dragon fan too! That was a fantastic game that was sorely underrated by so many people that, erroneously, mistook it for a child's game I'm also a huge an of Resonance of Fate too, though it can be brutally difficult, heh. Oh we'll, guess I won't be playing these again any time soon Sad Crying or Very sad

~edit~

It's alive!!!!! Turns out it was the hdd screwing up and not the machine! I took the hdd off and everything worked fine, cleaned the contacts and reseated the drive and - so far - it has been good as gold! Man, that beeping and freezing was worrying as all hell! Very Happy

You are finishing LO for the 1st time? Be prepared for a 40 minute long outro Very Happy

BTW: if xbox360= LO all the way. Probably the best of x360 exclusive.
I bought the game for 5 bucks. (Original 1st edition)

Yup, to my shame I never actually finished the game the first time, I only managed to get up to disc 3 on my old Xbox back in 2008 before it died. Don't worry about the long endings, I'm used to them from playing RPGs my whole life Very Happy

depends, if you mod a console and want to pirate games, you should lose the ability to go online.

I was quite happy with the first xbox to sacrifice live for downloading games, and I happily to do that with my PS3 (yes I know I could still use PSN), my 360 on the other hand is used reasonably regularly on-line, so I wouldnt mod it in any way.

I dont see why people expect to be able to pirate games and play online, you never could even back in the PC heydays generally what with Cd keys

I have absolutely no desire for online play or access whatsoever, my system is still on 15774 because the last time I updated the RGH trick was released and I screwed myself. Heh, not that I have any cash anyhow, so even if a new 15774-phat glitch came out, I still wouldn't be able to use it.
