yes this game looks pretty sweet.

i like the idea that you have to score high points in combo shoot outs.

seems like they have taken parts from other games and putten it into mexico. a mix between gta, max payne, prince of persia and tony hawk. Very Happy

give us poor xbox owners a short review pallebrun. or someone else. Wink

God if the game plays anything like the trailer leads you to believe, its going to rival GOW for me.


Weird for it to scene released on a Sunday though.

I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

I have played this alittle now and it's not even close to any gta game, it's quite bad to be honest.
At first I thought it was pure level based but after the first two missions I got the chanse to drive around in the first town, it seems to be like GTA where you drive somewhere for a mission.
The town as far as I can tell is very small, and it's not very fun to drive around in either, problary because the scenery is booring.
You can hijack most cars I think, atleast the ones that stand still, I didn't try moving cars except a taxi and that one could not be hijacked.
The moves are the best part of this game, but they are not too great either but still decent enough, and also enough to maybe play the game alittle. Smile

Oh right, the missions I have done so far have been "Kill the guys" and that's it. I hope it gets better then that. Smile

Edit: Oh and the cars handles like crap.

well i checked few sites and i think i changed my mind about the date europe gets this game 10 days before usa does

according to some sites the date for this game is the 16th of this month so i think its the retail game due to 4 days before retail Very Happy

Can you aim with the right analog stick in this game? Does it have a crosshair? Or is it another case of purely lock-on combat? I wonder if this game will be better on PC or Xbox.

It has auto-lockon-combat, so you dont have to do much to kill the guys. You dont even have to aim right at them, you lock them in your sight anyway. If you want to play this it's problary best to wait for the pc version. Both the ps2 and the xbox version have the auto-lockon, obviously, since they are consoles with a gamepad.
There might be a way to turn-off auto-lockon (I didn't check), but free aiming with a gamepad truly blows.

But the bad driving will not change regardless of platform.

Free aiming with a gamepad doesn't bother me at all. It's way better than some kind of auto-aim crap. If it's done right it can be almost as good as mouse look imo. Could you please check if there's a way to turn the auto lock-on feature off? Hmm it would be interesting to know if the PC version has auto lock-on too. If that's the case I will definitely get the Xbox version since auto lock-on feels just cheap and way too consolish on PC.

Edit:2 Man the car handling in this game is one of the worst EVER. I dont understand how they could fuck that up this bad. It feels like a valusoft game when it comes to the car handling. :/

yeah there is the O locks on things that can be blown up like barrles/grandes flying

the square locks on into head shot

i think L1 or was it L2 locks on to people

other than that you got a dot crosshair in the middle that you can shot so its kinda like a mix of all modes

and i agree with the cars handeling its really crap at times when the car is not moving you can actualy turn the car to left or right lol

Yes, it's a small dot like crosshair that you can move around freely.
But when going into "max payne" mode it turns on the auto, which means that you can aim at something completley different and yet hit what you first aimed at before entering "max payne" mode. It sounds quite bad but it actually makes it better since you can focus more on the moves and not the aiming. Smile

Well... I've been playing it for 5 or 6 hours so far and I am LOVING it! At first it looks like GTA, the challenges look like the missions in GTA. The main missions however are 10x bigger and very tense.

Graphics are great, draw distance great aswell and the framerate doensn't stutter (not even when there's a lot of action on screen). The headshots are great; you have to press the square button for exactly the right time and then shoot, great addition is the combo kill; shoot bad guys one after the other without too much time in between and your score will add up faster at each kill.
The one thing I really enjoyed is blowing up stuff by smashing into it with a car; when you drive you can open your left door by pressing L1 and after pressing R1 at the right time you will jump out of the car.

I would recommend this one. Smile

I like the concept so I want developers to use it, but they really need to shape up. Sad
True Crime: New York City is the next clone to arrive, I really hope that this one will turn out great. They have already made a gta like game, the first true crime, so they shuld have learned and fixed what was bad in that game, hopefully. Smile
