|
 |
Sometime ago I won a game called Antichamber in steamgifts, and one of these days when I had nothing to do, I decided to instal it, just to check it out, and I absolutely loved it.
It was one of the best gaming experiences that I remember having.
Can anyone recommend other games similar to it?

Portal, Portal 2, Q.U.B.E. and Quantum Conundrum come to mind.

I've played all of them, and I loved all of them, more specifically the Portal series, to me one of the greatest games ever made.
But there's something special about Antichamber, while the other puzzle games mentioned have a linear level design, based upon euclidian geometry, and it is the user that has a special "tool" that allows him to create wormholes through space (Portal), or change the physical properties of reality (Quantum Conundrum), Antichamber is special due to it's level design, the environment is it's own character and the player has to find its way through its unconventional but logically consistent puzzles.
What I meant to ask was if there were other games with similar mechanics focused not on player weapons but rather in the environment?

Looking throught the library I also found these.
- Tale of Scale
- Narbacular Drop (game that inspired Portal)
- The Ball

It's a niche genre, and you will have hard time finding anything that comes close to the quality of Antichamber, unless you expand into less of a logic game, and more into a adventure/exploration.

That's quite sad because Antichamber is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Are there community mods or custom made puzzles for Antichamber, like those community chambers for Portal 2?
The game is magnificient, but after you've played it some 5 or 6 times, you already know the puzzles and they don't surprise you quite that much.

Sadly there's nothing as unique, "fucked up" and psychedelic (in a good way) as Antichamber. All the other first person puzzle games available (and mentioned by Nerrd and Consolitis) are solid and entertaining, but generally provide a classic and linear experience, following the trusty Portal formula, only changing the mechanics and level design accordingly.
The game sold very well though, and the developer was incredibly -and positively- surprised..so maybe there's a good chance that we'll get a sequel in the nearish future
