That's exactly what he was telling you. You can use SAM (Steam Achievement Manager) to "launch" the games and idle in them without actually having to launch and play. It just runs an EXE with the Steam GameID that looks to Steam like you're playing the game, when you're not. It's used for unlocking achievements but has the happy side-effect of being used as an idler for card drops.

yes.

People did/do it already with SAM. Difference is you don't even have to install the game or launch it, so even more simple than that TF2 thing.

The market started working again, shame that the prices of cards dropped astronomically in the meantime I had cards worth €1.70 earlier ... now I'm lucky to get €0.35 for them, haha.

Well they messed up, now the market is devided in two with same card. Yeah, the lack of foils and boosters is doing my head in. Still, made about £4, almost all from early this morning. Also, my girlfriend's Steam account has a few relevant games on it, and only another week before I can trade all those cards to my account, then sell them on. I only managed to scrape together around €3 for all my cards yesterday, at least 12 of them. Fucking public opening crashed my access to the market and I had to sit by and watch the value of cards drop by the second. Blegh!

Yeah. That's a (sensible but still anoying) precaution against alt-accounts. Annoying because my girlfriend's account is legit, and she's willing to give me her cards for nothing, but because she hadn't bought anything recently, she has to wait. But she can trade, no? At least it used to be like 30 days old acount for trades.
