I liked it a lot. The slower scenes were really good in my opinion. The only thing I could wish for was that it was longer, aside from that it was awesome. Oh yeah and Cait Sith's voice is annoying as fuck, he should not be in the movie at all.

my subs seems to be decent, got two glitches because someone forgot to erase the original text. But something else that bothers me is that some scenes went in really crazy speed, hard to explain but it was like super speed :/

So can you explain to me how the illness was cured? It seems one minute cloud is whimpering like a bitch, the next a little fountain springs up and cures him.

Through out the whole movie/game Aries is around protecting the gang, she does this all the way through the movie and that is how cloud is cured. The water used to cure cloud removes his "jenova" genes, this happens later to the kids when it rains.

Quote:
Plus, what was the black water all the kids drank that seemed to turn them into zombies? Then suddenly they're all back to normal.

That was "the reunion" the same thing happens in the game, but you can't see it due to it being a game Razz! The use of water isnt explained but anyone who knows enough about the game would come to conclusion I did, this is some sort of jenova cell water used to bring people with jenova cells into the state awaiting the reunion. They're simply joining the group in order to have they're lives taken and energies absorbed for "the greater good"

Quote:
Also, why does that guy summon bahamut, then not bother to summon anything else, even when cloud is after him?

He summons bahamut to get to Jenova when he thinks she is under the shrine, then cloud et al attack so bahamut defends himself. He doesnt summon anything else because after bahamut is killed Rufus tries to destroy jenova, he is too busy trying to get and save her.

Quote:
As for sephiroth, I can't remember some guy absorbing Jenova cells in the game to resurrect him. I thought he just survived the fall in the beginning because he had already fused with Jenova cells.

No he didnt in the game you numpty Razz, the story isnt EXACTLY the same, but its the same Jist.

Reunion = People with partial jenova cells merging with jenova to become "the perfect being" which jenova is said to be.

Seph = Becomes the perfect being at the end of FF7 by doing just that

Dude who turns into Seph during movie = Someone with partial jenova cells merging with jenova = perfect being = Seph

I can explain more if you need it.

Clearly you didnt pay much attention to the game Razz, as the story is EXACTLY the same..

Then why say this if it's not true?

As for your so called 'explanations', it seems to me that they're nothing but your own interpretation of what happend, nothing is explained in the movie. I bet if you go to any fan forum there are huge debates about what everything meant. Which is a sign of a bad film. The same thing happend with the sequals to the matrix. Nothing is explained because the writers don't even know what they're going on about themselves.

I suppose you can't expect much from a movie thats over an hour and a half long but only has 600 lines of dialogue, except for pretty visuals.

My explanations are produced through understanding of the games story. This is something you lack as you stated you didnt understand the movie. The movie has the same premise as the game.

That is why I said you didnt pay much attention. I stand by that comment.

As for you saying that it wasnt explained in the movie. No it wasnt, because the movie was created for fans of the game, who would know what was going on. A friend of mine who hadnt played the game watched the movie and reacted as you are now, where as those people who played and understood the game think the movie is amazing.

Go figure Wink?

You wanted to enjoy it, so you're creating explanations for events that justify them in your mind. It happens alot. I did the same thing for War of the Worlds.

You should'nt have to do that for a good movie.

Want to explain to me why ariel picked that particular time to cure everyone? There isn't one, apart from ariel thinking "meh, might as well do it now".

I understood the game fine, even though the concepts are a bit abstract, what can you expect from the japs.

haha, she picked that time to cure people because Seph had just been defeated?! *shakes head and wonders how you didnt understand this*

Im not creating anything, I understood the movie Razz, my thoughts about it are exactly this.

The Reunion happens in the game. The Reunion happens in the movie. Simple as that Razz.

Ooh ohh oh! I do don't like turn based games. The ones, especialluy like dungeon siege, offer much more variety to the subject. Like, u can click once one enemy, or u can click twice on enemy. I must tell you, when i'm feeling randy and naughty, i click them MANY times.. Tee hee!
So naughty of me. But as u can see turnbased r old sheit and new sheit is teh FUTURE!

So live with it or die fags or fagzz0rz l33t omgz l337 k3wl I rok

Why does she cure cloud? Not the kids at the end. Rolling Eyes

You delude yourself if you want, I don't really care. My stance is the same as pallebruns. We both know final fantasy, we just don't think much of the film except for the action scenes. You keep on wailing on about how we don't understand it, and how you have some sort of special insight, but in the end it's just an excuse for poor storytelling.

No I mean the official DVD in Japan. The other ones released were like custom made ones I think. Has anyone managed to download the real one though? I've been trying but it's not going anywhere. If you have it, what kinda extras and stuff are on it?

This would have been 100x better as a game. *sigh* Razz

I don't really have anything to add to this, fight scenes were awesome, story was decent, the slower parts were pretty slow.

But I loved FF7 and this was a wonderful revisit back to that world.

9/10

I seriously doubt this was a "screener"....

I have 2 versions, the one I got 4 days ago (jap) is a retail and the other one yesterday, deva something with subs.

The jap nfo states there was no extras in the retail...

Custom made? Dunno about that

im not saying you're wrong or anything Smile

Gonna watch it today (ff7 fan here)

Agreed

I didn't expect a full blown sequel, I took it what it's worth...

A small excuse for us ff fans to see the guys from FFVII reunited one more time..

Sepiroth.. I didn't expect to see another FFVII cloud vs sepiroth battle, did anyone?

Im just glad we could see cloud, and he's friends one more time... im still hoping we'll see a remake or a sequel... honestly I hate FFX and FFX-2... dunno but I think FFVII kicks the living shit out of FFX and it's sequels...

I can't say im looking forward to FFVII spinoffs more like cash ins for me

Story 9/10 closure not a full sequel

Animation 10/10 WOW!!!

Music 9/10 Smile

watched, thats fckin amazing, amazing, amazing... the animation, the details... like it was sayd in some review in imdb.com " You can actually see the fibers in Cloud's sweater vest."... considering it was animated, some of the houses looked better/had more debth, detail than a whole hollywood action movie...
tho what kinda scratched my eye a tiny bit was that some of the male characters looked like butch lesbians...

PS! Sephiroth=God...
PS!PS! The ringtone was great.

i m a big ff fan, and ff7 is still my favourite game, but this movie`s characters and story simply suck. not to say that i didnt enjoy it.
everything i was expecting from this movie were great action sequences and no story, the action was better than i expected so i liked the movie alot.
you just cant add more story to a game like ff7, so much happened in the game, it was epic all the way and now they try to make something even bigger in 1,5 hrs lenght? i dont think so.
the story is pretty dumb and some parts very pretentious *cough* evangelion *cough*.
if the action sequences and the music werent there and if i didnt play ff7, then this wouldve been a painfully typical anime (yea i know its cg, whatever).
i used to be a big anime fan, but i didnt watch a single anime episode for like 8 months now.
all the characters in this movie act extremely anime-like so it really bored me when there was no action.
the 5 mins with sephiroth in the end might be a great fight but still pathetic, the director basicaly pulled him outta his ass just to show him off to the fans.
but in the end i expected every single of these contras, so i enjoyed the movie alot.
the only thing that kinda disappointed me was the music. sure there were ff tunes, but some of em were transformed and metal“d beyond recognition. ff7 had such great music, but they didnt use alot of it in here, thank god the owa theme was still in there, wouldve been a sin otherwise. i m sure i ll watch this movie a couple of times more, but i ll just skip to the action sequences right away, there isnt anything else here.

I'm not a FF-Fan, but i enjoyed playing FF on PC a few years ago ( no Consoles here Wink )

I saw the Movie today and i must say it's VERY well done!
Nice to see all that Characters after all that years Smile

Yes it's slow and cheesy sometimes... (Hey! It's japanese...) but i highly recommend it for everyone who likes Computer-Animation, because even the slower parts are nicely staged (avoiding the term "photographed" here..)

Storywise - i didn't get it all... maybe next time i'll watch it Wink

Ok, one thing I liked about the movie was when they showed the superiority of those with the Jenova cells, compared to normal humans. Especially the fight between that woman, and bloke in the church.

She was a much better fighter then him technically, but he was more powerful physically. I enjoyed that. Alot of the other fights seem contrived.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. Wink

Its one that I want to buy to be honest but couldn't wait for it to be released over here. Im hoping they do as good a job with the packaging and the interactive menus plus bonus features on the retail DVD as they did with FF:The Spirits Within. Although that was a relatively poor movie in my opinion I can always remember the 2 disc retail DVD as being overall a quality package. Smile
