Haegemonia - Legions of iron. It's almost the same as IG2, but much better graphics.

Nexus only has missions, no building at all, but its got a fucking nice atmosphere!!
Haegemonia, or Hegemonia, is DAMN nice You control a bunch of planets and use them to build ships and mobile defence platforms etc, can even terraform the planets, real nice game, only downside is the unit limit but there are some mods for that.
And of course Earth 2160, amazing, but not any space-travel in there.
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 RAM: 4gb Kingmax DDR2 800mhz Video: Asus GeForce 250GTS 1gb Sound: Asus Xonar.

Well if you're not dead-set on the space-era you could give Rome a go. In fact if you havent tried it at all you have to try it

Thanks for replies, mates!
Hegemonia - yes, the game was pretty nice, but I hated the unit scale...
Homeworld 2 - played it for a short while... I think I'll give it one more try.
Rome - I'm still playing it!
Earth 2160 - When talking 'bout sci-fi, I like space battles more than ground ones.
Nexus - you don't build units, which is bad.

I don't think there's been any other game apart from Imperium Galactica 2 that has combined tactical ground combat with 4X space game. Which is a shame really..

Freelancer is a good enough space game to be mentioned even though you don't build shit in it.
