It happened to me as well. And I now know what's the cause. Whenever Emperor looses independence war or releases counties based on that independence faction, he will gain claim on all new states.

Anybody? ; Actually, just missed again a 75% discount in steam which finishded like two days ago...Sad. Am I missing something if I skip all the dlc+addons?

If you only want to play as a catholic feudal lord, then no. The patches contain all the new game mechanics of the dlcs, you just can't play as Muslims or republics.

+ if you truly want a complete pack, you've gotta wait longer.

The next expansion unlocks the pagan game play, and the complete packs ofc. won't include that (as it's not out Razz )

Sword of Islam allows you to play as a muslim lord. Very different gameplay.

The Republic allows you to play as a Republic obviously (Venice, Pisa, Genoa and Gotland). Again very different way to play.

Sunset Invasion it's the equivalent of the Mongol invasion, but with Aztecs invading Spain and spreading through Europe. Not a big fan of this one, personally.

Legacy of Rome practically remakes the way you play the Byzantine Empire. Also introduces new gameplay mechanics.

Those 4 DLC's are the major ones. Three of them are highly recommended (Sword of Islam, Legacy of Rome and The Republic). Anything else it's purely cosmetic: nice to have, but not really necessary. Personally, I'd add the units and portraits DLC for extra flavor, with the music DLC's (Songs of...) to be bought at a later date.

Another major DLC is on its way. It's called The Old Gods and allows the player to fill the shoes of a pagan/zoroasthrian lord. New gameplay mechanics added in this one too.

If you want to see how the game is with all the DLC, google for Crusader Kings 1.0.91 repack by SxSxL. Should give you a good feel of what you want to buy and what not.

lolwut?

What were they trying to achieve with this? In a game filled with realism, I don't see why they did this...

Just pirate the game, there there are no advantages playing the legit version besides a registration at the official forums.
The game is drm free, although dlc requires an unlocker.

I've you want to support the company you can alway buy a copy of course for "the good cause".
I personally refuse to buy paradox games because there dlc/expansion buisness model, making their games overpriced.

Just play it man, fuck ups n all. That is how you learn it. Don't go past the 3 x's times speed til you get the basics down, or 2nd speed, or just play normal speed for the first little bit. After a while you will start to understand the game mechanics n such. It is a great game, though you do have to also like this kind of game, that in itself turns a lot of people off. And do the tutorials, read it too Smile

Game is not THAT complicated. It just looks scary, but once you understand its mechanics, you end up with many, many nights without much sleep, or not any sleep at all! Mr. Green

Hi.

Here is what we are going to try to do, if all technical issues works out well..

As the non-steam version is taking way too much time in maintaining, as well as holding us back from adding more functionality, like decent multiplayer, we want to progress away from that version.

We will stop updating the Gamersgate version, and provide those that bought the game there steamkeys for their ck2 games and dlc, so they can get everything in their steam-library instead.

Wait for the hotfix. Game got really unbalanced, so they are working on a hotfix. It's like earth has only pagans and antipopes Very Happy

Heresies are rampantm so maintaining even a duchy might be challenging. A kingdom gets teared apart quickly.

Hotfix might be released friday, with a bit of luck.
