at lest we know one thing , xbox360 will be sported five more years
heh so xbox life span that lasted 3 years forced them to create a game changer that would prolong theirs 360 life cycle... Kinect ...and now when they see what Sony is doing with PS3 they are doing the same... five more years for 360 and its now became the budget 99$ console
2005 xbox 360
2008 xbox 360 kinect [said it will add 5 more years , 2013 the year of new hardware]
2013 Xbox 1 annouced , 360 gets five more years
.
.
. they have 5 years to build hype and the infrastructure to lure you into buying a XO
.
.
2018 Ms stops supporting 360

yeah... the no backward compat sucks major dick.
So i'll need a 360 plugged in with its kinect, and then an XO plugged in with its kinect... XBOX ON... both xboxes turn on... FUCKING LAME.
Y THEY NO ADD BC? that's fucking retarded especially when most 360 games now use kinect to some degree.

Because emulating a 360 is not easy.

Doesn't matter... engineers should've thought out of a way to emulate the 360... at least the live arcade content, or digital content.
XO is not really turning out to be the successor 360 would've wanted.

It's not retarded. It's an entirely different CPU architecture, backwards compatibility would either require software emulation or including the PS3 chips. The latter is what they did in early models of the PS3, they actually had some of the PS2 chips inside. But that also requires cooling those chips, as well as making sure the underlying OS can work, which in turn means having a version of the OS compiled for the old architecture available. Goes for both the PS4 and XO obviously. There's just too much extra labour involved, so that is the one decision I completely understand.

@Waldo: Live arcade? So you are saying they should have found a way to emulate the least popular of their games? Instead of the system sellers such as Halo, GeoW, CoD..?
Makes no sense from a business perspective.

millions of people bought xbla games. Not having them carry over... is shocking. I mean... XO at first will have the multiplats (blops etc) if the adapt rate is strong with XO then getting blops for XO is nice... but it won't be. So not worth it. (just like with wii U tho there are people playing it ) But if you could play your old games or some of your XBLA games on XO then you can easily get it now and get entertained for the first 6 - 12 months until the big hitters come out.
Aye wereledeederes... they could go HD emu, or Soft Emu... either way... ps3 didn't have hard hitters at launch... BC helped a bit for early adopters. Now it's a thing of the past. But the gfx evolution isn't as BIG so playing dead end ps360 titles on PSXO wouldn't really make a difference wherether you're playing last gen or new gen games. They'll look identical at first.
But as I see a lot of 'hardcore' gamers are ok with having 12 consoles plugged into their 4 port smart tv...
PS4 might have some sort of BC with gaikai... I can only hope. Out of all the consoles coming out... wiiu impressed me and ps4 is impressing me even more. once death comes out ( ) i'll mod my ps3 (no idea how to do it now... i is dummy dumb dumb) and load it up with the great titles i missed out on.

they will do the same like Sony
Stream games from theirs service ... but they keep it under wraps for EA I think , Sony already announced it they ps4 is not backward compatible but all they games from ps1 till ps3 will be available as streams using Onlive Servers
and thats their MS vision of the cloud ... streaming games , more like streaming H264 video to you

but can they do PS2 era fogs and 3DS oceans @ stable fps.. |
you mean simulate each console limitations that where used by the game developers as a game mechanic
no they can't but they can improve the visuals and add a new similar effect
the thing is what assets they will use, will define this port
ps. i have the PC versions ps3 hd remake of SH was shit

"Geoff Keighley: Sources Say Sony Will Include PS4 Used Game DRM
There's already a Bound Round Thread, but given how connected Geoff Keighley is in the industry I thought his Sony DRM for rental games comments deserved it's own thread. At 17:50 during today's Bonus Round he notes his sources are indicating Sony will implement some sort of used game DRM. Given Sony's rather ambiguous comments on the subject, I think we should brace for the worst."
From gaf, and sorry for the crude pasting, I'm on my phone.

a bit offtopic, in this weekend my 3g internet at my country house worked like shit, but i manage to load a good old bash org page with this gem :
<DmncAtrny> I will write on a huge cement block "BY ACCEPTING THIS BRICK THROUGH YOUR WINDOW, YOU ACCEPT IT AS IS AND AGREE TO MY DISCLAIMER OF ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS WELL AS DISCLAIMERS OF ALL LIABILITY, DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL, THAT MAY ARISE FROM THE INSTALLATION OF THIS BRICK INTO YOUR BUILDING."
<DmncAtrny> And then hurl it through the window of a Sony officer
<DmncAtrny> and run like hell

I'd like to know if the D-Pad has the same and great precision/"tick tick" feeling like the Vita's D-Pad,since that one's PERFECT for fighting games (like, knowing that you actually pulled out a hard combo by the pressing feeling n stuff
I bet people might not care, but fighting gamers?,probably..just my opinion

Because no video nor article on the frigging net mentioned anything about the D-Pad's button feeling , if it's similar or not like the Vita's

If it's anything like the PS3 (and PS2... and PS1...) d-pad, it will be sublime. I've not had the pleasure of the Vita d-pad but the PSP had a ghastly d-pad that was hellish to use (1k model at least, I heard Sony fixed that with the Slims)

For me Sony always had good buttons and bad analogs.
Tho not in my taste. I prefer deep keys and buttons. Sony makes em shallow and quick to tap
