Actually, you were the one that exaggerated.. not me Wink I don't see any extreme bloom on your screenshot mate, there's the PP haziness that's part of the distance, but that's more like fog than anything. There's no horrid bloom though. You could try playing with the settings, there's quite a bit to tinker with in the advance video settings menu.

Good that you kept the sword... Wink

@gemiko

If you want to remove some of the haziness, whilst not diminishing texture quality, try Lord Ixi's custom Amalur settings;

http://www.mediafire.com/?22wu1k8xnb8kbin

Extract the contents of d3d9 into the same folder as your Van Helsing .exe. It will sharpen textures and clear up some of the haze you don't like. It won't do anything to fix the damage to your corneas though, the one that makes you see bloom that isn't there grinhurt

Does anyone know where the third gem for the statue is?

My map is completely searched all the way to the part where it says if you go into the mines you can't go back so complete all quests.

My game crashed a few times is it possible the gym dropped and I missed it so its gone now?

It's hard to know which you consider "third" - I found the last one in the Marshes, in a treasure chest on the western-side of the marsh.

I'm playing with RLD release.

No problems. Unless you try to use online feature, then you'll get CTD rather quickly (not that online works with that release anyway) Smile

(But the retail version does on occasion when using the 64-bit exe, plus as I said the recent gameplay settings aren't available.)

I played x64 version for almost 8 hrs (8 hours of running - often alt+tabs and such, ~4-5hrs of actual gampelay) and haven't got a SINGE crash yet.

Just installed, great game enjoying it a lot Smile one question though. Is this one of those bloody annoying games that only saves at certain points, the end of each chapter/mission etc? Or at save points?

It saves automatically after some events (quest complete). ALWAYS saves when you change location (teleport for example)

It can be disabled in options IIRC.

atm ccop/mp is bugged.

if you jon a game, you canot get exp/anything (after you quit, you get rolled back to begining, only the host keeps exp and stuff) and for a lot of people it crash fairly fast.

they promised a fast fix.
probably problems (crashed) are between 64 and 32 clients. i remember a game with the same issue in mp, and were because of that.

Wondering the same. I explored everything I could find up until "point of no return". I don't know whether the key will be used in another act or what.

Sorry mate, I have *never* played a HnS with other people and I don't intend to start now. The only game of this kind that I have ever played in multi... is Phantasy Star Online.. because damn, that can be a hell of a good time with three others Very Happy But Diablo? Titan Quest? Torchlight? Van Helsing? Grim Dawn? etcetera... they're all solitary experiences for me Smile

If it wasn't entirely obviously, I was in the most part joking. I know that you prefer to play games on your own and given the number of bad experiences I've had with multiplayer games (especially with HnS/RPG/MMO), I'm verging towards the same opinion.

Even so

Wink

On a more serious note, how are you finding the combat mechanics? I watched a video and the whole rage bar/powerup skill thing seemed interesting, but perhaps too limiting? From what I can tell you can only use 4 spells at any one time, ignoring the rage modifier.

I'm loving it, seriously! Everything about the game just feels great to me - but you're right, you can only have a combination of four usable skills at any one time; left/right mouse is used for active skills and you can switch between skills that are assigned to your mouse buttons with the TAB key. It works out rather well for gamers like me, since I don't like having eleventy billion skills all over the place like World of Borecraft Very Happy

The Rage modifier just adds more effects to each skill, such as arced lightning or stunning melee blows.

The options menu lists the Fx function keys though I'm not entirely sure what they're for yet, I haven't seen any way of assigning to them, so it's perhaps part of the tower defence base minigame in Borgova.

You switch between two different skill sets on the fly (Tab key). So that's two active (attack) skills per weapon. You switch ranged/melee weapon with key R. Both weapon sets have two skill sets.

There are two active utility skills.

So it's 10 skills total you can use easily on the fly. Then you can use on-the fly powerup modifier for each attack skills using 1-2-3 keys (or recall the pre-defined powerups with spacebar). Further if you need to you can change the one of the skills in your current skillset with F1-F7 keys, but I don't think many people will be bothered doing this - but there's option for it Smile

Overall I feel there's enough variety considering the length of the game (what was it, 12 hours or so? )

Me too. Smile Best ARPG in last 3 years or so imho.

You assign them when you open skill selection (by clicking on one of the two active skills), press your desired F key with hovering your cursor above one of the skills. Hope that makes sense Smile It's pretty straightforward really Smile
