You can make use of additional cores with this...
Open Config file
MainThreadCPU = 3
change to:
MainThreadCPU = 0

Doesn't work, i've messed around with the config quite a lot, but no good results came for me.

Breezer_ : i know that parameter, but it wont make any difference, or very little. Reason for not adding multicore cpu support yet, in next patch 2.3 is, that they expect alot of new players and their work on multicore is not finished and crashing randomly. So new players can enjoy the game, but when things get crazy on screen, fps will dip below 20 easily. Not to mention when visiting city full of people.

Seems like it will be in Patch 2.4 because they still have problems with the better multicore-support (its already in).
They dont want to release a system that still can cause crashes. So they delayed the performance update to patch 2.4
For performance:
RIFT does need a really really good CPU to run smooth while fighting with many players (or in towns).
As the actual AMD CPUs are not very good with single or dual-thread tasks, the AMD CPUS are extremly behind the actual intel cpus (and the performance per clock is on the actual intel-cpus much higher too).
So if you have a modern AMD CPU you will suffer from much more fps los in crowed areas then with modern intel CPUs.
You can wait until the performance patch comes (but i dont think this will give you 200% more fps on AMD..).

Lol even on my i7-2600k, i dropped into 10-20 fps in crowded area's. are you telling me that's even worse on AMD cpu's?

Rift has always been kind of wonky with the FPS. Also, the newer armors look a LOT better than what they had at launch. I really like how they look now, the old ones were meh.

Overclocked? 
I got around 35fps with max details (without AA) in crowded areas with my 2500k @ 4,4GHz.
Yeah on AMD its worse. And if you have an old AMD 64 X2 oder X4 or AMD Phenom II, it gets more and more worse (those cpus have high clockrates but they are sooooooo slow in terms of gaming-speed compared to the Intel-CPUs).
But do you know a MMO with good graphics that ran really really well as soon as many players were visible?

Yeah OC'ed to 4.2, but i think it was more crossfire related then my cpu tbh..

Yeah because that makes sense, having rigs waaaaay above recommended specs yet need to turn everything down to get playable fps 
Don't justify their poor choice of engine (or poor coding skills, pick which one) with such pity things

Ohh well, even if i play WOW, i would like to get raptr Rift full Game + Expansion + 30 Day Subscription, anyone got a key to spare? I think i can manage to gift some Steam game later for it.

Just download the game, replace the exe by a pisstake program (i had notepad exe in there) and let it run for a day or so while having raptr open.

Used fxaa inject for months, so you should be fine (unless something changed in between)

Breezer : yeah, SMAA/FXAA works just fine, i used it for like half year in Rift.
No one got banned for using it as far i know.
