Tough shit, basically. The Yankbox One is built only for America, since America is The Greatest Planet in all the Universe, Microsoft doesn't care about you third-world scum.

So this thing XBOX ONE:

blocks used games - must pay a fee

Needs to be online

Must install all games to a non upgradable 500GB HDD

Seems to be centered on non gaming bullshit that TVs do anyway

KINECT which is a known failure

This is a major win for SONY. Whoever is running this cluster fuck at MS must be insane throwing away what the brand built up for years. They better show some serious exclusive titles at E3 or they are truly fucked.

used games work like this
you have game
you lend game to friend
if friend wants to play it they have to pay a fee for said game.
so, you lend the game and your friend will most likely have to spend 20+ to play it...
it will most likely be full price. Neutral

So used games not banned, just lending out games, renting games = no no.

If Microsoft is smart, they create an ebay like eco system where you put your game up for auction and when someone buys it, your "cd key" is dissociated from your account and associated with the buyers account. This allows microsoft to skim off the top and push out the gamestops and the like form taking all the profits.

lol, I actually take back what i said anyways as it wouldn't even work. Now that I think about it, that idea is pointless because a "used" game is essentially not a used game considering its just a code on your account so why would you go online and purchase the full version when you can pay less for a used version, so its not really in Microsoft best interest.

also why the hate of registering your games etc? this is exactly like the pc master race of steam.

Edit: Also unfortunately for everyone, I do not see a company that creating a duel platform game not requiring registration on one version and requiring it on the other. The company will make both games require an activation key. Microsoft have just made their move more transparent. Sony trys to act like you will be free to do what you want with your games but you can only do what the developers want you to be able to do and it wont be more on one console than the other.

Edit2: Im curious what happens in this particular situation.

-my friend logs in to his xbox one with my account and start playing an offline game that I own. He then pulls the internet connection out and continues to play as he has 24 hours before needing to connect again.

-After he pulls the connection I fire up my xbox and start playing on my account with my games. We are now both playing the same accounts games. The next day my buddy logs on again to re-register with microsoft and pulls the plug.

Well, for the 24h connect, I couldn't care less. I'm fortunate enough to be connected 24/7 anyways, so why should I worry? And piracy will save the day here anyways Wink

If the used game fee really comes to fruition, this would suck major balls, since selling games would not make a whole lot of sense. Maybe buying will still be ok, since the prices of used games have to go down to make up for the fee.

Cloud computing on the other hand got me worried, that would make some games unpirateable. But I also can't imagine this being mandatory for a lot of games, because while 24h connects would mean that a super shitty inet connection with only 30kb/s which only works a few minutes a day would be enough (and really? some guys of you have shittier connections than that?) Cloud gaming would mean you need a good broadband connection with very little latency which even is a problem in big parts of america and europe.

Yes, because it never happened before. Like on PC for the last... 5... 6... 7 years?

Honestly, while I'm not entirelly sure Sony won't go the same route, they would be foolish not to see (and visciously use) an advantage here. Games are made for systems that sell. That's about it. If they sell a lot of units, and, after yesterday, it looks like they have a huge chance to do so (at least amongst gamers), then there'll be games for their console. No serious publisher will ignore one of two major platforms because of something like this.

Truly awful machine. Looks unbelievably crap (I've seen better looking VHS recorders from 25+ years ago), it's underpowered compared to PS4, it's more interested in being used as a media box to watch shit american shows on and wave your arms at all the time, and it's going to destroy the market for those who like to buy 2nd hand games.

Sony must be grinning from ear to ear....please, just take my money now and get it over with Very Happy

Its widely acknowledged that it uses slower DDDR3 ram and a slightly inferior GPU compared to PS4. And the fact ms glossed over any concrete specs pretty much confirms that. If it even matched PS4 they would have been screaming out the specs instead of boring us all to death with their media-centric shit.

And this is without even considering the bloat effect of their OS's on the system.

Still, as a gamer it makes the choice of next gen system very easy so am grateful to them for that at least Smile

very easy choice indeed, since out of the 3 contenders, only one is a console Smile

the other 2 are a glorified hd receiver and dreamcast 2

Interview with Phil Harrisson (by Kotaku)

Quote:

Kotaku: If I’m playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?

Harrison: I believe it’s 24 hours.

Kotaku: I’d have to connect online once every day.

Harrison: Correct.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

I will get all of them eventually, as always Wink
And I don't understand the problem with it also being a hd receiver. If it really gets 15 exclusives the first year with 8 new IPs we will see some great games on that system. Being able to pass through a tv signal does not diminish the systems capabilities right?

Was it stupid to not show some of those exclusives at the event? Absolutely, especially considering that this event is watched by the "vocal minority" core gamer crowd who will shit over anything casual, it was borderline retarded. However, I'm interested in how us media is handleing the announcement? What are the "good morning america"'s and shit like that saying? Can anyone actually from murica speak up?

Was it stupid to add the online requirement (if it really ends up being there)? Also, yes. Again hardcore gamer crowd, extremely butthurt by stuff like that which means the internet will turn against this system.

Will this stop me from enjoying some great games on the system? Never, and it shouldn't keep you from doing that either.

Does it mean the system isn't capable of great things? Again No, the games will look great and play awesome due to great evolution to an already great controller (Controller was the best thing at the show imo)

That doesn't mean I'm excited about any system yet. They should have pushed the controller more and shown some f'in gameplay ffs. Sony made the same mistake in my opinion, we don't want to see trailers we want to see someone actually playing shit we haven't seen before. At least that's what would get me excited. Well there's still e3...

Whelp, I guess I know whose opinion to ignore in future. Way to play the "butthurt, lolz" card. Oh and FYI; the online restriction is confirmed in the very post above yours, congratulations. It's on Xbox.com website too; you need an internet connection to use the machine, which it checks daily.

Guerrilla060185 wrote:

Yes, it most certainly should. Anyone buying into this bullshit right now is just as cancerous to the gaming industry as the likes of EA and Activision are. For god's sake, you're like junkies - have to get your next CoD "fix" - rather than standing up and saying "Whoa, hold on MS.. this ain't right"
