I didn't hear the question, I read it. I often contemplate things that deserve contemplating, like how I'll make better use of my life and time.

Seriously though, I hope you don't want to draw any serious conclusions from this study man, because right off the bat you are not controlling it for a lot of factors, and I (as someone who deals with studies on a daily basis) wouldn't take this one seriously. I don't mean that offensively, I however am sick and tired of shallow studies about gaming!

well, i recently finished my PhD and I am planning on leaving academia forever. Why? because you work your ass of 24/7 to have reliable stuff and then some twats come up with crap research, have a big mouth and publish crap science all over the place. It's a joke. 90% of science is a joke to keep people intellectually entertained.
Btw, what will you do with this stuff? 'I did an online survey on a internet forum. That will convince reviewers...' I'd personally refuse to review such research and shoot it down with a nuclear missile.

In various ways, yes.
Yes/No questionnaires like this one tend to be useless since there are many nuances. Most statistical research regarding social matters etc. tend to contain scaled answers.

not all of the research, but a lot of it is a waste of time and money.
And during the research, you obtain a lot of skills that are useful outside academia. You learn to be critical, push a project from start to finish, give presentations, teach etc. The content is wasted, the skill set not.

I'm sorry sir, but some of the answer you provided can not be used as they didn't properly followed my survey. I will however tell you this, you can exchange "gaming" with just about everything else. What you as a person decides to do with your time, is entirely up to you. Nothing is to waste if you find anything positive from your recreation.
