Quote:
Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet). From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

In the comic book fan community, the apparent death and subsequent return of a long-running character is often called a comic book death. While death is a serious subject, a comic book death is generally not taken seriously and is rarely permanent or meaningful.
Actually, the producers said that the show will reveal that he didn't die.
Remember Nick Fury lied about the blood soaked Captain America trading cards being on Coulson instead of his locker to motivate the team. And remember the scene shows the medics running to Coulson and then Fury says that he died, it's NOT the medic team that says that.
We don't know the details (there are some spoilers out there, but I ain't sure how legit they are) but all evidence points to his death being faked to motivate The Avengers.

Yea, I know that death in comics means shit, but I didn't know about that stuff with Fury, thanks for the info Show should be good but I'm curious how big budget they got for it 'cause small budget = shitty CGI = shitty villains = cancelled.
Well S.H.I.E.L.D. are the guys working behind the scenes, not the superheroes themselves, so they won't be fighting villains all the time. Which is not a bad thing. TV Series = character development time!
Also they won't waste the "good" villains on this, they'll keep them for the movies
Hopefully Disney (ABC) gives them a good budget but TV CG is TV CG so I wouldn't expect much better than the stuff we saw on Heroes.

Yea, well, there must be some Marvel mythology in it, though. Obviously I'm not expecting to see any major league villains but there surely will be some superpowered bad guys and I assume they'll require some CGI We'll see, but I agree - as long as characters are interesting and well acted it'll be all good, even without fights with Dr. Doom or Ultron
My body is ready. Doesn't look "cheap", I can buy it takes place in the Avengers world. (But the pilot budget is much higher than that of an episode..)

At least this time Joss partnered with ABC and not Fux. Perhaps then this show will actually have a chance of surviving... because yeah, I'm definitely interesting in this

You think many TV series are based on comic book worlds?

I do not, but that doesn't change the nature of the show.
Hey guys, would you be interested in a show based on some american government division?

Quite the difference.

I love how he edited his post to make his opinion look more valid (if it wasn't added by Waldo that is) You said it right the first time Consolitis. And by the way it was said the first time, no i don't think there is that much of a difference. On one hand you have terrorist on the other you have supervillains. I haven't seen 24 mind you, but we have a plethora of government agency shows running, and when they select something from the Marvel Universe i think they should have chosen something less... Boring. That's my opinion of course.

I didn't say that. I never edited my post.
edit: I've never watched a single episode of 24 either

It doesn't look particularly exciting for me (I'm almost ignorant when it comes to comics) but I'll give it a shot out of curiosity, that's for sure. Hope it has some depth, unlike the 90% of the movies based on the Marvel universe
