I'm a tad confused, I have the original game (main game) patched to the latest 2.1 or whatever it is. Do I need to grab Rld's release of the main game, install it, patch this to 1.8, grab this 'standalone' addon install it to where I have installed my Rld vers of the main game? Smile

Yes thanks that worked, in fact all the DLC is now unlocked. Obviously, however, I cannot connect to the Conflux (online) now. Which is no great loss really.

Heroes Community Website has details on some issues plaguing Might & Magic Heroes VI since the release of the version 2.1 patch and the Shades of Darkness expansion for the turn-based strategy sequel. There is also a note that there is difficulty patching the non-Steam editions of the game, which given the serious nature of some of the bugs the patch introduces, may be a blessing

what the shit?

The usual Ubi mess. Or a game made by people that don't know jack about the code and the graphic engine they had to work with ( remember: those guys aren't the original developers, but a poor replacement)

By itself no, but on the PC you'd think that they would know how to prevent shit like this by now.

Anyway, why would they care?

Fix for the Nvidia crash when entering Town Screen

This problem existed since September 2012. It took them 8 fucking months to fix an issue which made the game unplayable for a significant number of Nvidia users unless they reverted to some ancient driver version and kept it for 8 months.

Actually, there was a workaround that cut the crash rate from 80% to 10%, and that's simple; deselect Core0 via the Task Manager when playing the game. I've got 30 odd hours out of HoMM VI with less than 5 crashes on the town screen, whereas without deselecting the first core I was crashing pretty much every time I entered.

This is on both my current 314 drivers and earlier 312, on my 570.

I do agree though, leaving this critical bug unpatched for 8 months is absolutely unacceptable.

I think it's a fuckup by the studio which developed it and Ubisoft is uselessly trying to 'fix' an unfixable game.

There was a suggested fix on the TPB discussion... something along the lines of quitting after finishing mission 1, which makes the game autosave and you can then load the save. Haven't tested it myself though.

So, I've restarted playing this game and I have to say that it is much more stable and feels faster. I'm playing the Haven campaign and have finnished the orc and the sanctuary campaign.

Haven campaign seems somewhat boring so far...

not sure about that black screen, but there is one if you enter combat you get black screen with sound and nothing else, as far as i know its few patch old issue still not fixed and there are many people complaining on it on officials forums , so it might be related,
i actually didnt had black screen before, but now i get it every second time i enter combat, so game is kinda unplayable ( think its nvidia cards only, )

I am on Nvidia driver vers 301.24 (last June or something) simply because of the graphic issues (black screen at the start of battles/entering towns, flickering screens etc) so, I assume I can finally upgrade to the newest drivers now? I doubt it somehow Smile

By the way I tried all the fixes mentioned above plus a few others, nothing stopped the black screens at the start of battles/entering towns etc, until I downgraded my drivers.

The reason it's impossible is because the game forces you to rush. If you actually take the time to build up your army, or you take significant losses, the AI churns out tons of units non-stop with no heed as to the resources they have available. It's one of the cheapest fucking "difficulty curves" ever implemented.

Megatrainer eXperience. Grab that, use it to artificially increase your army in order to counter the AI "I'mma gonna stay here and bulk my army whilst you traverse the map, har har har!" insanity.

Wouldn't that ruin the gamneplay? Have you used it?

I use it all the time and yes, it does ruin the gameplay - but no more so than the AI cheating already ruins it. The trainer just evens the field. Everyone that plays this is going to be exploring the map, getting as much resources and troops as possible, so it doesn't seem fair that by doing so; you break the game for yourself since the AI will simply spawn thousands of troops by sitting at his town. All I use the trainer for is adding a few hundred troops to my army when I get to the final town to confront the AI. Makes for even combat Smile

Does the AI act this way on stand alone scenarios? Or is it just for the campaign?

I'll just use it, I hate not finishing a game I bought. Thanks for the info.

It's ridiculous that the same fan-complaint about HoMM V is present here. The way the AI fortifies itself just leads to rushed games if you want to have any chance of winning Sad
