well like the question says, I'm looking for a dvd player that supports pal as well as ntsc and also that it plays regular backup dvds without a problem. I just bought a cyberhome dvd player from bestbuy and it plays pal movies which I love, picture quality is pretty good on my 36" but for some of my regular fujifilm 8x dvdr+w it doesn't work at all or that well =\

so I did my homework on cyberhome come to find out its a piece of crap, what should I buy next that will play pal and ntsc and play all media put in it, let me knwo thanks in advance.

Well 99% of DVD players are region free i'm not sure about NTSC / Pal video modes (displaying them since I dont think they're the same thing) either way just google away and you can get unlock codes for a DVD player which is supposably region locked.

6700 is great indeed. And with MTk´s fixes/updates/firmawares even greater. No complaints at all Smile

That player is a pos, image quality is terrible. My non progressive player had better image quality then the dvp 642. Unless you have a small crt tv you probably wont notice anything, but if you have a hdtv dont waste your money.

Every review I've read of the DVP 642 says that for HDTV you need to use the progressive component outs, not the regular components.

There are a million reviews for the Philips ... check them out yourself. I'd say it is a good value for a cheap multiregion/,multiformat player.

Get a Pioneer. I've never had a problem with their players. From the bottom to the top. From the top to the bottom. Hmm I've got 'em. No problem with pal/ntsc. Never had a problem with any kind of media, cheap or quality. Plays all.
Currently have the 563A, love it.

www.dvdrhelp.com has a great list of dvd players with information about if they are region free or how you can hack them to be region free. Also they have a comment section where everyone can comment about the dvd player it's +'s and -'s and also what formats it plays. Go check it out.
