Looks like facial animations and the dialogue system will be overhauled as well:
(translated) sauce
(which is good, the Witcher games have always been a bit lacking when it comes to facial expressions )

Witcher 3 Dev: PS4 Is a high end PC, CD Projekt happy with new architecture
Quote: | CD Projekt RED have always stayed true to their vision and this is clearly shown in their reluctance to release The Witcher 3 on current gen consoles and instead go for next-gen and PC. They are pleased with the PS4 as well, and quest designer Pawel Sasko revealed a lot more about the system to us in an exclusive interview.
“After the announcement of the PS4 many graphics programmers commented that Sony’s upcoming console is a high-end PC and I agree with them,” he said.
“The change of architecture made a lot of developers happy, including us. From a technical standpoint, the biggest disadvantage of PCs is customizable hardware in almost infinite number of ways. That’s why working on PS4 gives us comfort that every gamer is going to have a quality time with The Witcher 3.”

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Finally a studio having some strong sense of reasoning and understanding that such a heavily SP-focused series of games should not be abused and tainted by unnecessary and negative components!

“The game will be an epic, story driven, single player, open world RPG experience. We strongly feel that this final saga of Geralt has no place for meaningful multiplayer.”
The Witcher 3 will feature three main epilogues, however there will be a number of summaries, describing what the player has achieved.
Quote: | “After you finish your epilogue you also get a summary of the biggest consequences of the choices you made in the game. Some of them will show changes in political situation of the world, some of them will show changes in local situation of places you visited. Others will show changes in the lives of your friends or enemies. And when we talk about those multiple endings, that’s exactly what we mean. Depending on the choices you make, you can leave a completely different world behind you once you finish your adventure.”

Fantastic news! These guys are truly amazing. Makes me optimistic about Cyberpunk as well, since even if there will be some form of MP, the single player will have the utmost precedence as always.

only thing about cyberpunk is the different languages thing. I would be content with people having an accent instead of speaking a variety of different languages :<

"open-world"
I keep seeing this with each Witcher game.....yet, imo, nothing about the game is very open-ended in regards to traveling around......TONS of invisible walls......pretty damn linear to me.

But for the first time in the series, in Witcher 3 the world will truly be open; just read the news articles etc., it's one of the most hyped features so far. I think it's been confirmed that there'll be only a handful of loading screens in the whole game (I think one example was when Geralt travels to some far away location from the 'main' world area) - most everything will be completely seamless.

Skyrim's success really had quite the impact on upcoming RPGs. TW3, DA3, DS2 all mentioned wanting to be more like Skyrim. Hopefully that is a good influence. I'm always skeptical about open world games, consider the effort it requires to develop.

+1
One reason I liked TW2 more than TES5 was that it was more focused and the game world seemed more dense and "compact" (in a good way). Every little nook and cranny had a "hand crafted" feeling about it. Skyrim on the other hand had a lot of "wasted space" and you constantly find yourself walking around aimlessly, which can be good for a bit but gets tiring imho.
Let's hope they don't fuck this up in Tw3...

DOn't buy a game for what it isn't. Buy it for what it is.

If there's one studio which has enough talent to create a truly interesting open world, it's these guys. I'm hoping for a gameworld with random shit happening and true consequences. I'm a much bigger fan of semi-linear games, but I have faith these guys can ignite a revolution (open + interesting world).
