Yeah, well, I don't buy/use sharp weapons, I only carry a good knife on me to kill suiciders and that's it. I'm completely focused on blunt, but still haven't bought any blunt weapon. Money is not a problem at all, but I'll just wait for a really special one to appear in the inventories.

Damn game won't save for me, i used the steam.dll fix for Win XP and it works, but the game will not save for some reason, has anyone else had this problem?

Im going to try it in my Win 7 and see if that fixes it but i don't understand why this game refuses to work with XP properly.

I got it from Page 18 of this discussion.
I just copied and pasted it from an earlier page and replied to you with it. Smile

Personally, I'm glad that person referenced it earlier as the one I was going to grab was immediately DMCA'd.

Hi,

got anybody else problems trying to run this game on AMD hardware? On my rig, Phenom II X6 1090, 4 gb ram, ATI 7950, the game is permanently crashing. I tried it on old WinXP sp3 (with the DLL "fix" - thanks for that) and on Vista sp2 and it crashes on both OS (after the introducing cutscenes).
Without the DLL fix it can be started only on Vista but it crashes about 1 minute after running the engine. The Windows crash message tells about errors in the steam_api.dll or the engine_x86...dll or the main .exe so the crash reason is not always the same one. On WinXP it crashes without any message.
All other games I am actually playing are running without problems on my machine. I have no idea whats wrong.
For testing purposes I even started the original Dead Island (still installed) and it did run without any problems (using the same engine if I am not wrong). I tried different AMD drivers - without success.
Any suggestions?

thx for help
regards

Same issue here started up the game to see my save missing, or not created at all.
I fixed saving issue by using this crack (Dead Island + White Ryder DLC v1.3.0 Reloaded)

Use .exe supplied with Riptide release,
Delete steam_appid.txt from folder,
Copy steam_rld.ini and steam_api from DLC 1.3.0 crack,
Open Steam_rld.ini and edit username and AppId to =216250
Save games now working, Savegame path can be found in the steam_rld.ini

No crashes here, been playing shorly till spot where u place barricades and saves worked Smile
Try put game on singleplayer mode, but unsure if thats causing crashes.

Yeah, and this isn't the first release that this has happened with, same thing happened with the Black Box version of Far Cry 3 for me. It would work on my Win 7 drive but not on my main XP drive, so i tried another repack from RG and it worked, but this time no version is working on XP without this little workaround for me.

I prefer XP obviously in general and i find that some games actually run a little bit better on XP for some reason even DX9 vs DX9.

So in conclusion, XP FTW Smile

Yeah, grab your DI saves (X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxx\91310\remote\out\save) and place them at X:\ProgramData\RELOADED\RLD!\216250\storage\out\save.

Then start a new game and click import character, the game should recognize the character from the DI save.
This is for legit Dead Island/Riptide RELOADED, if you have a different combination the files will be stored in different folders (no idea which, to be honest).

Thanks Toni! I'll give it a shot. Smile

Haven't found the time to play it yet (except for the pretty bad prologue chapter Razz), but all the modifications/tweaks/mods can be found here in case you're interested: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3100993

Is there something wrong with this game's performance? I was getting 190 fps but it felt like the game was skipping frames. I tried forcing vsync to cap the fps at 60 but it just made the skipping much worse.

-edit- for some reason the stuttering is gone when I play using a 360 controller. Weird.

Apparently many people are reporting that the keyboard input related stuttering from the first game is back as bad as ever. I don't know how or why but I don't experience it Twisted Evil

Like I said it's keyboard related, that's why you don't experience it when using your gamepad.

Solution: execute Dead Island Riptide Helper just before launching the game, and put a checkmark on this option:

Keyboard and mouse ---> Fix micro-stuttering (prevent keystroke repetition)

You can download the utility here:

That's the input lag some people get when using mouse+keyboard, same thing happened in Dead Island but I don't know the technical details.

The utility linked to above (Riptide helper.) has a function that automates a modification which changes the input file as to reduce the lag effect.

EDIT: Oh I didn't see that the above post had already mentioned all that, heh.

When does Zoey (the chick who sells blades in the first survivor group) gives you her inventory upgrade quests?
Did a few already for all the other traders but hers just won't popup, although I have already done 2 other quests for her.
Maybe it's after the first harlow quest (the boat) that I didn't start yet? Confused
Anyone with the same problem?

I just got the boat and still no inventory quests from zoey... Sad

Started to play the game.. at first thought to continue with my lvl 40 Purna.. but.. chose the australlian ninja er.. soldier guy... he is hilarious - kicking and punching zombies and sending them flying across the level Laughing - kick to the chest - legs and arms being dismembered Very Happy

The game is pretty much moar of the same with some nice additions like the boat, and jumping zombies from higher grounds + the boss zones/dungeons/whatever

The weather effects transitions suck major ass tho -.-
